Only player that I wish we still had was Stephen Jackson. But he made the bonehead decicision to pass on the Spurs initial offer in '03. Moneywise, it worked out in the end for him. But if we kept him instead of bringing in Hedo, I think we beat the Lakers and win the le, back to back.

I do know I don't miss Turkeyglue or "Herpes" Smith at all.
They offered him peanuts, that's why he left.

I actually think that one reason the Spurs have been so successful is that they kept the main core intact over a long period. it also helps with player development.
I mean, Parker is great, but I am sure some teams would have traded him away after the 04 Lakers series. Horry worked out fine now, but how many teams would have kept him after last year? Beno would have been traded (and still could be) after his performance in the Detroit series.
One reason for the Spurs getting gems low in the draft is because of good scouting, but another reason is also great player development. Parker, Manu and Beno would have been end of the bench guys under Larry Brown or Phil Jackson, and would have had their confidence killed and skills undeveloped.

Speedy -- went to GS as a FA so he could start
I will always laugh my ass off at Speedy Claxton. Always. He wanted to leave to start...left the Spurs and went to GS. Didn't start there...was behind Derek Fisher. Then got traded to NO and didn't start there...was behind Dan au IIRC. Now the Hornets go and draft a PG. They have 3 PGs, Chris Paul, au, and Claxton.

I'm sorry, but Manu wasn't developed by Pop! He might have improved his defensive skills I'll give you that, 'cause in Pop's system everyone does, but if anything Pop was the one that had to adjust to Manu's crazy ways. I know Manu has learned to be less chaotic because of Pop, but I really don't think he would have been end of bench for any team or any coach. i know Larry is tough on rookies but I also think he's a guy that can tell real talent when he sees it.

Speedy should've had a chance to start after Parker's display
you mean after he outplayed Kidd for 3 out of 6 games?

after he was a stud VS Dallas, Lakers and the latter half of the Phoenix series??

    Typical Sequ inteligence.
