This is an overuse case in my opinion. When forced, the body will react sometimes violently. When he slightly hyper-extended his left knee, it changes his gait(the way he normally looks while walking or running). You can tell he was labored. 17 Seasons in, you have to ALLOW a rest. No one is superhuman.

The last prominent LA Athlete to go down with a completely ruptured tendon was David Beckham. His story offers a unique perspective of why an achilles can go and how to treat the rupture.

His surgeon is one of the world's best and he had Beckham back and playing in 4 months.

BS he can be back in 5 months perhaps as soon as 4 months. A complete tear is easier to fix than a partial. If an old man like David Beckham could be back on the pitch in 4 months and play in Champions League(they got eliminated on Wednesday) then it's possible Bean can be back as well.

Turn in to espn. They having a lakers funeral right now lol.
I saw it a few minutes ago and I just couldn't stomach it. The way that network continues to fawn and kiss Kobe's ass is deplorable.

In NBA circles, this will be played up to be the biggest story of the NBA season - despite whoever wins the le.

Great F'n News tbh. Any Spurfan who thinks otherwise is lying to themselves.
No, dude. Really? Pretty sad, tbh; His career is done. He was the 2nd best ever, pending LBJ's run.

No lies to myself, Lakers are barely a threat. Now or ever.

Not even top 5. The fact that you even consider Kobe a top 3 player tells me you're probably a teenager(and not a very smart one at that).

Sucks that this would befall such a great player, but he wasn't helping matters with his excessive minutes played. He'll likely be back, yet he won't be near the same player. Ask Chauncey Billups and Elton Brand for reference.

Kobe's at best a Top 10 player, and that's mostly due to media hype.

C'mon brother man, most anyone can name 3 players "all-time" better than Kobe without even trying. Even the most casual of basketball fan on a whim would probably suggest 3 other players all-time than Bryant. Although it very well may be a generational thing as well.

I never wish this sort of debilitating injury to anybody. If its a mild injury that causes somebody to miss a handful of games, I don't lose sleep over it. When Kobe sprained his ankle after the Hawks game, I wasn't sad for him. But a torn achilles, thats rough.

But hey at least we can be certain he's not faking it.

And I really HATE to make jokes, but amnesty THAT

Crazy end to a long regular season.

Jax gone, diaw out, dunno whats happening with manu, kobe gone. OKC must be feeling good about their chances coming out of the west. Sometimes i think the 82 game regular season is too freakin long.

I have a hard time getting some sympathy for Bryant. He has just played too much the card "I'm seriously injured" while he wasn't. Now that he is really seriously injured, he can't put his usual "I'm a warrior" or "mind over body" BS. There is some kind of Karma behind that injury for Bryant to have faked injuries and for D'Antoni to have played him 45 mpg.

And of top of that, Bryant isn't a likable man on and off the court.

this is as dumb a comment as they come

Kobe at 34 or whatever is the most marketable current nba player. He the king of asia and #1 product seller in the biggest market in the world. China

    Wake up.

Can't stand Kobe or the Lakers, but I don't wish an injury on anyone, especially one like that.

Tomorrow night's game should be interesting.

How long did he expect he could play those crazy minutes? And how stupid is his coach playing his best player to the ground to avoid what could be one of the most embarassing Lakers season.
Isn't this just on the heels of him saying he could play another 5 years? Ironic.

Father time catches us all, Kobe.

I can see it now. The Lakers resign an old, broken Kobe, package him with some combination of Gasol, Nash, Peace in a blockbuster multi team trade. When all the dealing is done, the Lakers have LeBron and Harden starting along side Howard. They fire D'antoni and rehire Phil. The rest of the league wonders how it was done. Stern laughs.

In other news, Derek Fisher convinces OkC to release him so he can tend to an ailing family member. He promptly resigns with the Lakers.

If all of that actually ever happened, I would call NK and tell them to nuke Los Angeles.
