I do not see the Spurs trading Rasho unless

    1) They can take a shorter-term salary back. Part of the motivation behind the Malik-Nazr trade was that Nazr's contract will end sooner.

    2) They can ensure that they resign Nazr or get someone of comparable ability. If the Spurs trade Rasho now and Nazr leaves after next season, the Spurs will only have the MLE to go after a center. Maybe Scola and/or Oberto can fill in, but they are NBA unknowns.

We should just get it over with and sign the Argentinian National Team, the whole team, add Tony, Bowen, and Duncan to it, bring in Magnano to run the offense, and let the good times commence

There you go. And even if they didn't sign the whole team, they could bring in Magnano and sign Legolas (Walter Herrmann) as the future Bowen replacement, too.

Posted this in another thread but it's probably more relevant here.

In the Oberto AND Scola scenario, Rasho has to be the one out (not that I want that). Duncan and Horry aren't going anywhere, the Spurs see a lot of potential in Nazr's aggressiveness and they aren't going to bring in both Oberto and Scola unless they plan on giving them some minutes. This could be the time you could get something good back for Rasho since you're trading a big for a small and some team that is size challenged could send the Spurs the long 3 they've been looking for.

But in the end, training camp will decide on the Nazr/Rasho ranking. I wouldn't count Rasho out just yet although it doesn't look too good sometimes. Rasho will benefit from having better hands, passing skills and defensive positioning. But if Nazr can pick up the defensive rotations and increase his aggressiveness on the offensive side and rebounding, he'll take it rather easily.

I really like this lineup! You know that both Oberto and Scola are hard workers - this could be one uva bench.
Especially since Manu, Scola, and Oberto have been playing together for many years...pop can just put all of them in and let them dominate.

I think it will be EITHER Scola or Oberto, not both, but damn I'm having flashbacks of Argentina cutting people up with their motion O in the Olympics with those three on the floor at the same time.

Bringing both Scola & Oberto won't happen. I wouldn't trade Rasho either, I like the guy and he is a good defender.
Besides, I wouldn't bring to international not proven at NBA level players to a potential dinasty team. Too risky...

Rasho played exactly 16 seconds in the playoffs and we won it all... I see it about as risky as cutting Marks...

I've heard tell that these foreign players do something called "pass the ball". That sounds like some kind of euro-nonsense offense. I hear they also play with a square ball and that the hoop stands just 2 feet tall. To me, thats just too unproven for the nba.

Scola and Oberto sound like they would be perfect playing in the Spurs new run and gun / motion offense. (at least they're used to it) but I doubt very much they'd bring in Oberto without knowing what they're going to do with either Nazr or Rasho? (one or the other)

Seems you forgot about all 82 of the regular season games. Rasho has been useful for this team. Let's be a little less ungrateful.

We need one Big Man when Nazr is in the ramadan
    of course.

Let guess, the Spurs need, OBERTO

    of course.

A center thats neer played in the NBA before who is almost 30 and no one knows how good he is.

Of course, replace your starting NBA Finals center with him.

good point chicken little... I know how you love sticking by your team and all but you notice how Rasho played last year in the playoffs? Nazr was here for like half the year and Pop STILL didn't play Rasho at all after he was healthy...

we don't need a 7 million per year guy averaging 2 minutes and .0001 points and rebounds per game

I'd rather be hearing from 'T Park.'...

I count wins and losses I don't care about stats. Why doesn't this legendary defense translate into wins?

Look at his check statements then ask if the numbers he's putting up are worth it.

Bring someone who will ing produce for that amount.

what about him, in the first two games Rasho played Shaquille O'Neal about as good as your gonna play him.

Name me a player that can DEFEND Shaq better? Oh yeah Oberto..

Once again, Ill take Pop's opinion of a player over yours

For a starting center in the NBA what he gets paid is market to below market value " "

His defense against the top centers in the league is bar none, PERIOD.

It does you moron, you watch one game that Nesterovic plays in??

He practically helped the Spurs win a game in April against the Rockets thanks to his second half defense on Yao Ming.

you know it's best of 7 right... not first to 2 games wins. They got lucky and fronted shaq and it worked for a little bit. I think timvp said it but it stuck...
the next momentum changing block rasho makes will be his first
