Here is an article from an on-line newspaper link I check occasionally. It's got the latest on Oberto. He's in "High" demand in Europe and he's holding teams at bay while he awaits a bid from RC and Pop.

    It's from yesterday, July 11, 2005

I wonder whether the Spurs are going to play Scola Vs. Oberto, specifically to keep Scola's contract low by threatening to sign Oberto otherwise.

    Why not:

Use the LLE to sign Oberto

Half of the MLE to sign Scola.

Trade Rasho and Beno for AD

    Nazr/Oberto
    Tim/Horry/Scola
    Bowen/LJ3/Brown
    Manu/Brent/Brown
    TP/AD/Wilks(?)

    IR. Marks or Someone else

    ---------------------------------------------------

Or use the MLE to sign both Oberto and Scola.

And then use the LLE for someone else. Maybe Big Dog.

Well you'd have to get rid of Nazr or Rasho, if Oberto and Scola come over. I wonder if Spurs equipment general to manager RC, is going to get both of them. That would be one of a Spurs equipment.

This website is from Fabricio's home area so it's going to be focused on him a little more than Luis. Don't construe this to mean that the Spurs have soured on Luis.

If Oberto was brought in, you have to trade Rasho. And why not get AD He proved he can play point and run a team.

Him backing up Tony would be sweet.

I'm not sure how Scola and Oberto would work on this team. You'd have to let Massenburg go and trade Rasho for a small ... and then one of either Scola or Oberto will be the 12th man.

    C Nazr/Oberto
    PF Duncan/Horry/Scola
    SF Bowen/Brown
    SG Ginobili/Barry
    PG Parker/Udrih

That's 11. Then you'd have room for either a long three (GRob, JJames, Kukoc) or a third point guard.

Hmmmm ... but that's not counting who the Spurs trade Rasho for.

I really like this lineup! You know that both Oberto and Scola are hard workers - this could be one uva bench.

How big is Oberto, both Scola and Oberto are unproven in the NBA so people should stop jumping to conclusions.

I have watched both Scola and Oberto play in the World Championship in Indianapolis and the olympics and was at least salivating at the fact that Scola will one year be a spur, but now Oberto???????? If we get both players I will crap out monkeys!!!!! It wasnt RC's fault for not signing Nocioni, the spurs scouting team knew about him and very interested in Nocioni but were given wrong information about his eligibility and no one drafted him. The person on the scouting team that made the mistake was later fired

Yeah, if the Spurs are able to trade Radoslav for a 3 that would work well. A Rasho for Battier trade would seem quite nice, but Battier is a BYC player.

I'm sure that Oberto won't commend more then the LLE. He's got experience and knows how to play TEAM basketball.

I'm not sure if the Spurs would bring both him and Scola, but I hope they do. If Oberto accepts playing limited minutes and possibly take Massenburg's minutes, I'm for it.
