the other part of the mle to big dog
anyone else confirm an actual buy out and not just an attempt at one?
the other part of the mle to big dog
I don't know if it's been discussed...but how do Oberto and Scola compare?
Strengths, weaknesses?
That does not mean this:for what I was hearing here in Buenos Aires in last hours, Scola was due to agree to the buyout with TAU. I think this is not over.
All that person was saying is they heard that Scola was trying to agree to a buyout. Nothing in that sentence tells me that the buyout happened or is close to happening.appartly news in the last hour in Argentina according to a international poster at another site has Scola agreeing with Tau on the buyout today according to reports.
Damn, a trade of Scola's rights for Battier would be perfect.
That doesn't work with the CBA. I *think* the Spurs could sign and trade him though.
how much is scola being paid? maybe if we knew that we could specuale if it was signed for ourselves or another team, and posible what player slaries match
was he signed and traded or just his rights if rights then there has to be another player traded too
because we could use a backup for bowen
we need to sign or trade for someone
Big Dog is done in the NBA.
Especially with him playing like 3 minutes per game, he isn't worth the money. He doesn't have any qualities that will help the Spurs, at least not anymore.
I don't know if it has been said before, correct me if it has, but Tau Ceramica's president is very hard to negotiate with and that's IMO the reason why Scola isn't comming.
But then again, if Scola isn't ready to put up money himself to finalize the deal, then I won't feel sorry for him.
Big Dog has alot to offer to the Spurs. You're probably not familiar with him being signed with like 3 weeks left of the season and that's not enough time for a player to adjust and feel at home, esp. when comming of the bench.
He would be great off the bench for at least 2 more seasons. His jumper alone is enough to throw at him like $2 million a year.
He's not gonna get enough minutes to make a difference, even with that "jumper" which IMO sucks now.
I hate Big Dog. I remember him running down a fastbreak, it was 3 on 1, and he just pulls up for a jumper, and misses. All he does is take jumpshots, and without him starting, I don't see him hitting many shots.
I thought that was a good shot actually. It just didn't happen to go in.
I really think you have a distorted view of how good Big Dog still is. I would love to have him on the team next season.
Big Dog can only be effective if he gets at least 20 mpg, something that is never gonna happen while on the Spurs. You can't put a jump shooter in for 3 minutes. How many points can a guy score in 3 minutes?
I just don't think his best opportunites are in San Antonio. Yeah, he can win a championship, but he won't be any factor.
With training camp and more adjustment to the Spurs system he's going to be fine. Imagine the talent on that team with guys like Horry, Barry, Oberto, Robinson, Brown, and Rasho (or not) on the bench. Wow. That's a great bench.
If Robinson is ready to come off the bench and play 15-20 minutes a night, then welcome back. Even if it will cost us $2 million a year or maybe a little bit more. It's worth it.
i like the idea of battier, i'm also curious to see people's thoughts on how this might affect something for SAR, donyell marshall or caron butler? i know the last guy was just traded to washington, but they could use a center and maybe some mixing-and-matching could spur something.
Do you guys think any team would give $2 million for Glenn Robinson???
We should trade Big Dog for some $$$ to help us pay the buyout.
well i see no more news so should we assume no buy out happened?
Getting Battier would be great, but I think it would only be good if Battier is guaranteed to start in 06.
We can only pay $350,000 of the buyout no matter what.
Why would we give Oberto part of the MLE when it seems he could be had for the LLE? What about giving Big Dog the LLE if we did in fact give Oberto part of the MLE? There are definitely some interesting things in the works right now. In Pop and RC we trust.![]()
Here's my guess...
Spurs have been negotiating with Nazr's agent. They know by now if they're going to be able to extend him this summer or not (I think it would be cheaper to get an extension done this summer than try to re-sign him next summer).
If they are close to a deal, once it's done Rasho is gone. If there's no hope, you've got an attractive talent in Nazr with an attractive contract (up next year) to boot.
With Oberto in the fold, Scola is expendable.
I could see the Spurs sending out either Rasho or Nazr, along with Beno and the rights to Scola for a team for a near All-Star/good quality SF. Then turn around and use the MLE on one Antonio Daniels.
Just a guess, but all the pieces of the puzzle fit.
Tony
Manu
New SF/Bowen
Duncan
Nazr or Rasho
AD
Barry/Brown
Bowen/New SF/Big Dog
Horry
Oberto/Tmass
I hope the Spurs keep the rights to Scola and bring him over next year if not this year. He is only 25.
Am I wrong or did Scola come off the bench during the Olympics. I remember watching most of the basketball games but I can't remember for sure if he was a bench dude or starting. I've drank a lot of beer and smoked a lot of weed since then so I'm not sure.
P.S. My beer can just started moving across my desk for no apparent reason. I'm kinda freaking out.
I think that he was the 6th man, but I believe that he played more minutes that Oberto, and finished out the games.
