I'm not that high on either, tbh.... overall, Klay is the more complete basketball player, IMO. Klay's defense is overrated as though, while Danny is a bit overrated in here. Klay can dribble a basketball, so he definitely has that going for him.
As HH said, if you're looking at what they give you for the money, Green is the better bargain, but if money didn't matter, I would probably pick Klay right now.
Well, even if Danny gets 10 mil per year, Danny + Manu's yearly salary combined = Klay Thompson's 17.5 per year..
So, it's really a no-brainer IMO..
Overrated is an understatement pertaining to Danny Green. He's a a prouct of the system. I can't tell you how many times Splitter/Duncan had to pick Danny up for his missed defensive assignments. He was probably near the top of the league in fouling a three point shooter but I can't confirm that because the stat isn't recorded. For a guy who can't put the ball on the floor, paying him $9-10M per would be a drastic overpay considering not one of the other 29 NBA teams in the league would offer him anything close to that. The Spurs would be bidding against themselves. In terms of Klay, at 24 (3 years younger than Green), his ceiling is much higher Greens and it's pretty apparent GS is basing his current contract on both production and future potential. It's way to early to tell if this contract will drag down the Warriors in the long term. Although some already have his future mapped out.
There's also this fallacy that players who don't play good defense early in their careers can't learn to play good defense. I'm sure Klay Thompson has the ability to become a better defender if he was under the tutelage of the right coaching staff. Green's defense wasn't anything to write home about his first two stints in the NBA.

if klay is so great how come he struggled to score on green or kawhi?
his fkn pts is misleeading cause spurs tried to hide enrique on klay when curry was torchin him, then kawhi/green had to switch back...

Klay is apparently the better player but I would rather have Danny for the sake of price.
overpayin this clown
does that mean iggy isnt part of their plans?
whats their cap atm? lo curry will be asking for a big payrise once his ty deal is over....
On another note, Steph at 11M a year is a disgusting bargain tbh dude is gonna hit free agency demanding the max at all costs, as he should
His ankle concerns at the time were the only reason he took so little, tbh..
It's closer than some might think but definitely gotta take Luigi
You haven't seen the upstairs thread then...
every fanbase does that, though..
, half the Spurs fanbase disliked Green before last year, too..
I've seen a ton of Warriors fans say that Klay is a better individual player than Harden, which is absurd..
That's really not fair considering Spurs players, esp the big 3, have taken some pretty solid pay cuts to provide the team more signing potential.
Comparing anyone to Spurs for a question of value is brutally unfair unless someone is on a rookie contract or really developed after they were signed. Spurs get more value out of their guys than anyone in the league.
Klay is a good/great player with the potential to be better, as he's still very young and shown some potential.
lol Klay just scored 32 pts in the 3rd Q.
10 three pointers made. NBA record is 12.
God mode
11 three pointers made.
1 more for the record
LMAO at any idiot that says green is better than klay
No one is saying Green is better than Thompson..
I'd still take my danny big Green though..
Danny is easily a top 5 playoff performer in the last two years..
Not going to trade that for a regular season guy.
