I can let it go as it being the past, something we obviously overcame the best possible way. That sort of made a statement to our wills as they lost like they were lost, and we turned around and won it all.

I looked back and this whole issue reminded me of some lyrics I know, in which I tweaked the words for basketball relation.

"If you fail to see a problem,
(Which I find hard to believe)
Or if you're hanging on from branches
Catching the waves on your beach you say
"The hopelessness of losing Shaq, the childishness of winning Kobe"
But there's a call to love more my friends
That can never be destroyed however much you talk,
However well you talk you make a certain sense
It's still only stupid talk, however much I strut around,
However loud I sing, the Shining Trophy doesnt have to say anything"

So yeah like I said it's over and done with, but they lost twice in the process.

It has more to do with the Spurs offensive predictability than that "killer instinct". The Spurs, prior to this year, was the most offensively predictable team in the league, probably ever. Dump the ball to Duncan, 4 guys stand around and watch. It takes a couple of games to figure them out, and it's very much like the George Karl Sonics, they are great in the regular season, but when teams have a 5/7 game series to figure them out, they are much easier to beat.
A huge part of the Spurs success this year during the playoffs is their unpredictability. Manu off the bench, him freelancing and creating in the 4th quarter, lesser reliance on Duncan on offense and Barry and Horry offering different dimensions off the bench, these are all things that catch other teams off-guard, and require them to watch tape to come up with ways to match it up.
Very rarely has there been a team in the history where you KNOW exactly what they are going to do, and they do it over and over and over again to win a championship. It's one of the main reasons Malone and Stockton never won a championship, it's also why Barkley with his park his butt in the paint offense never won anything. Pop has grown as a coach, and is more willing to try different things, this makes the Spurs a much better team.
I agree for the most part.

Our team last year wasn't all that great to begin with but yet the shot was bogus. Oh well, we still could have busted the Pistons for a 2-peat.

If they were the Utah Lakers, that wouldn't have been a shot. They started the clock late, and any reasonable person knows that. There is not time for a catch, turn around, jump, and shoot in .4 seconds.

I enjoyed seeing the whole Lakers team faces after my pistons beat the living out of those pricks. They pulled 1 win out of their ass thats how much better we were then they were. Game 5 when we just humilated those punks brings tears of joy to my eyes. Losing to the spurs sucked but I can enjoy the humilation we gave those chumps in the finals

i watched this year's dvd for the umpteenth time today and realized that winning it all still hasn't made up for that shot. i figured it would be the first thing on the dvd, but i didn't see the actual shot when it actually happened. after watching all the celebration and stuff after tim's shot, i find myself really wishing they had won it that year and mad at having to look at fisher's shot again.

    GET OVER IT!!!

Lmao @ the sidebustin Mavsfan tryin to get some side action. Your team sucks so bad that you have to bandwagon San Antonio just to throw jabs at us Lakers. Mavs have no real ammo of their own to fire off at us so hey let's pretend that being a Mavs fan is just like being a SAS fan. Get the out out of here. Wake me up when Dirk becomes a superstar. Tell me when he gains an ounce of toughness. Tell your Herman Munster looking owner that he can't buy a championship. Obviously money can't buy him a haircut either or a new jersey aside from the same one he wears everyday. Why was your owner handing out jock straps and Gatorade from the bench in the playoffs? This is a legitimate gripe between Laker and Spurs fans ok. Of course you can have an opinion but when it becomes agenda then you deserve to be ripped a new one. Lmao I can write a whole page but I'm going to stop here.
It was more that I hate the lakers than being a spurs fan. How do you love Detroit. I enjoyed that 5 game sweep. I also enjoyed the Clippers having a better record than your team.

but you still haven't answered the question. this isn't about the fairness of the shot or memories about the thing, it's about if the championship has changed your feelings about the shot. "moving on" doesn't mean never bringing it up again. , it's the start of the dvd i paid for, why not talk about the thing? and if the answer is because it's been talked about ad naseum, why even post a response?

It had to have started late. How else would Stern get his Lakers vs. Lakers "Dream Finals match-up"?

Because the Pistons dominated that game and happened to be on the loosing end due to a clutch shot.

Not really. The year before Horry's shot was like 3/4 the way down and the Spurs got a lucky bounce in Game 5. Then the lucky 0.4 shot, so in a sense it basically evened out.

yeah .4 still pisses me off, i went around yelling in my house when Duncan made that shot, and i even broke some of my parents freaking fragile stuff in the kitchen out of pure joy, then i sat down and watched Derek Fisher rob the Spurs of a victory, and i felt sick, i was literally going to throw up, it was just sick......4 seconds is not enough time to grab the ball turn around jump and shoot.

Regardless of what the rule is/was, you can't catch and shoot in .4 seconds. Impossible.

that is the fact that kills me! THE NBA instilled rules for a reason but throws them out the door when it involves the LAKERS

Greatest moment in nba history. I have never seen such a clutch shot like that. San Antonio did everything they could to try to win that game but the lakers were just better. The Lakers remind me of the 05-06 heat because of adding more talent after already having a superior talented team over the spurs but injuries got the best of them.
