So whats going on with the VBookie payout, I didn't bet so I guess I really should be minding my own business, but I'm just curious as to what is going to happen. The le of the VBookie was led: Where will Shareef Abdur-Rahim sign?.

So did he ever actually sign with the Nets or just say that he was commited to them?

I know I am probally instagating something that I'm not even a part of but ...ahh well

We paid out for New Jersey when this was released:

As expected, Shareef Abdur-Rahim signed Tuesday with the New Jersey Nets for five years, pending the results of his physical.

I don't get the MRI excuse. It's scar tissue. If you've ever played sports in your life, you've got it in your knees and ankles.

Sounds like the Nets liked the idea of Marc Jackson more (more acccurately, what they would have to give up vis a vis what they would have had to send to Portland) and came up with an excuse.

Second round pick vs. first round pick, and it's easy to say "gee, those knees don't look so hot."

Enter RC with Rasho, stage left...

Before everyone jumps all over the Nets, you have to realize they probably know a lot more than us medically. Maybe there is something different that they see than whats being reported. I think Marc Jackson is a steal for them. I really think he may fit alot better than SAR. He LOVES garbage plays and with that high flying/scoring trio, what a great fit! I know alot of us wolves fans were very dissapointed when it came out that Jackson was the throw in to the Spree deal.

I don't buy that. Do you guys realize how hard NJ went after Shareef?

I think they have what they think are legitimate injury concerns.

I'm no health expert or anything, but I was thinking the same thing earlier.

An MRI would probably reveal a plethora of scar tissue in Duncan's legs, too. You could still bet that wouldn't stop any team in the league from pulling the trigger on a deal for him as soon as they could wrap their finger around it.

Sorry Kori, if all of a sudden I found out Philly would send me Marc Jackson (a somewhat legitimate center in the East) for a second round pick and the trade exeption, versus having to give up a first rounder in exchange for a PF, I'd do it too.

I just hope the Spurs can pick up the pieces, because I think Thorn was full of on this deal with Shareef.

New Jersey hasn't said that the MRI revealed scar tissue from years ago. I think that's just what everyone has assumed they are talking about. For all we know, it's something else on the MRI.

Also, they've been trying to re-negotiate the terms of the contract with him for the past few days to give themselves more security. So I think they really wanted him.

Yeah, I guess in theory it could be, but his knees never looked like a problem in years past.

I'd bet that you could do an MRI of the knees of every player in the NBA and not find a single one without scar tissue in their knees.

Sorry, I gotta call bull on this one. I guess the upcoming seasons will decide that one.

I imagine his value is pretty low right now, we could probably swing a deal on that if we are still looking to move Rasho.

Send Portland Rasho and Scola and get this done.

Portland isn't taking on anymore salary. No way that do that deal.

    Too bad.

You'd have to be pretty sick franchise to knowing falsely put out that a player was damaged goods to the point you didn't want to go through with an agreed upon deal. That would be the last FA that ever agreed to sign with your club.

They haven't been. But I guess since the Nets are gun shy, they are worried about what might happen in the next five years. I can't really blame them. They were crazily after the guy - so I don't think it's just because they figured out Jackson was cheaper.

Yeah, I think it is a combination of the Jackson deal materializing and also being gunshy considering their past luck with overpaying FAs who ended up with injuries (granted any franchise dumb enough to pay what they did for Alonzo deserves whatever misery comes their way).

Mabe whatever they found in SAR's leg was similar to Kidd's knee, they decided that they would take the risk with Kidd but they're too scared to take the risk again.
At least that would explain the sudden paranoia
    (yep just talkin for talkin)

I guess it's easy to understand the Net's reluctancy. They've already got to worry about a starting point with a bum knee, and Vince Carter with scar tissue for a brain.

Maybe the Nets stopped wanting him after he said he didn't feel he wanted to be a Net...and that's why they went with the Jackson trade...it's not like Reef gurantees winning or anything...if he got an at ude with the Spurs I'd want them to do the same thing the Nets did...and drop him instantly.

If he does have some potential injury...

Just remember, the Spurs took Elliott knowing he had a career threatening problem...they might be willing to gamble.

And also remember...If we were to get Reef...he WILL be playing many more games per year than he is used to playing...and unlike every other year of Reef's career...the Spurs play meaningful contested games after Training Camp.

If that is true the Kings have a good team, but still no defense...

    Miller/Skinner
    Rahim/ Williamson
    Stojakovic/ Thomas
    Wells/
    Bibby/ Hart/ Price

Portland doesn't want Rasho, so there is no way any trade with them is going to happen, plus I wouldn't be willing to part with Scola, who I think the Spurs have invested too much time and effort to just let him go. I think any trade for Rasho has to be a straight up trade, and that isn't likely.

Sure they went after him hard. But that doesn't mean that something else better to their liking came around (after the trade announcement) and failing the physical gave them a way to get out. I'm sure this isn't over and that SAR, wherever he signs, will have more to say on the matter.
