if he was denied the money didnt matter anyway
If he was a walk on and was trying for a scholarship, and didn't get one because Robinson was gifted that spot, then yes, he was denied and yes the money mattered anyway. It didn't matter to Robinson though. Just doing God's work per par.

One thing I have noticed about DMC is he tries very hard to be a contrarian even when its for pointless stuff.
    Hush up, you.

Speaking from a basketball standpoint only, I have to believe he'll at least be better than Ayres and Bonner. What should his nickname be? The Little General 2.0? The Lieutenant?
Just in, Robbing son... that fits.

This really bugs you, doesn't it? You make a good point, but I can't hate on Da Admiral. He's the main reason why I became a Spurs fan in the first place.

Say what you want, but having 2 kids playing Div. I sports, one as a football player at Notre Dame, and another as a hooper at Duke, is pretty cool, especially for Dave. He's gotta be a proud papa tbh.
    This.

Why? Why give a scholarship to a guy who's dad is multimillionaire? There are kids out there who cannot afford to go to college, but David's son gets a free ride because, well...he's David's son.

Some black kid received a letter of denial and basically lost his future because of this. Congrats.
Spoken like someone who thinks life owes them something. If a wealthy person earns an opportunity over a poorer person that is the breaks. As long as opportunity is available to both. I have no doubt Coach K is giving him the spot because he is the best player. Are we supposed to be using affirmative action for College Basketball scholarships? And to say that the poor kid can't afford to go to college because he doesn't get a scholarship is fantasy. There are so many programs for poor students to go to college that if that is what stops him then he really doesn't want to put forth the necessary effort to do so. Take 2 "real world" pills and call me in the morning.

Yeah no doubt. Elitism and "old boy" networking doesn't really exist. If you apply all the things you say about the poor black kid to the rich kid, they also apply, except dad can afford those more easily.

The argument here is because it's David Robinson. If it was Michael Jordan, it would be a different tune being sang here.

Not at all. Think of Rudy at ND. Would he have accepted playing football at Wayland Baptist?

Elitist preferential treatment that always, always... always means someone else who deserved to be there got dismissed.
Some kids are NOT recruited for only the talent they are, but the talent they might become. We know David's growth spurt and strength occurred very late. And of course it's somewhat of a "look who we got" by Duke.

This particular son is a special kid, a very good egg. If he can hang, gets some muscle, he will be a great guy to have on the team despite what happens on the court, simply because he is a great kid. These types can be crucial to a functioning team, especially as older players.

His older kid is much more of an athlete and less of student (which still could mean he is a very good student)
The hypothetical kid that did not get a scholarship to Duke will find another school. The cream will rise.
I don't really like K but this might be a really good move from a recruiting standpoint. Some of the really bright players that go IVY or Stanford and are very easy to coach... they are attracted to Duke. More than just the one and done types. It could lead to more consistency.

Bottom line is that there are a lot of coaches take lesser players out of HS because they see upside, and, because they could also be binders for the team as a whole. It's very tough for kids to play with other kids they don't like. Coaches get this.

Regardless of whether or not Justin ends up getting big minutes at Duke, the kid apparently deserved his acceptance into Duke (9.4% acceptance rate). He ranked in the top 3 percent of National PSAT scores. He walked on at Duke while being ranked 72 for 2015 for Texas HS boys basketball (TexasHoops.com)...so why the hate? He seems to be a bright, determined and talented kid who grew 5 inches in 2 years and seems to be still growing. Maybe he's worthy of a shot at the last scholarship.
