The only other way to compete is to win 18 games and then pick in the Top 3 in the draft.

    Which way would you choose?

If we clear out the entire team to sign a multiple max players... then yes. But we've still drafted and/or developed Parker, Green, Leonard, Duncan... Might claim Boris given the state he arrived in after Charlotte.

    Add to that Manu, Cojo...

    That's built.

Front Office planned everything years ago ... not to get Aldridge, but to get one Max player from outside to smooth the end of Duncan's career. It was as beautiful as our 2014 ball movement ...

I think the Spurs have done more with "built" than any franchise in the history of sports. I'm perfectly fine trying "bought" for a while and see if it works.

If you spend 19 years building your dream house, you should be able to buy a nice addition to it and still say its the house you built.
the construction of which started by having won a lottery... literally in 1997. Pop laid the foundation for said house, but that lottery gave us the cornerstone on which to build it...

Salty fans. The spurs are silently becoming the envy of the league, now everyone will be wearing spurs apparel lol. Win or lose the sea of band wagoners just got that much wider smh.

RJ was from a trade of Bowen and Oberto. The biggest ones the Spurs have had that I remember are Fin and Dice.

Yeah, Fin was still pretty highly regarded when he came over. Nowhere near at the apex of his career like LaMarcus, but still considered a strong acquisition.

Dumb debate. Bought is like what Nets did a few years ago to build a compe ive roster. It means buying a bunch of all stars and overpaying to get them and going over the cap. Spurs are far from that.

It's also not really a sensible debate since the Spurs have had no choice but to build up to this point, and as mentioned before, none of this would have mattered if they hadn't won the lottery twice. Nice to finally get a big-time free agent, but it doesn't suddenly invalidate everything that came before.

The "bought" tag would also imply that we were able to outbid teams to acquire LMA services when in fact we paid him less than he would have had in Portland and the same anywhere else. Still need to round out our roster too as we gave away some solid pieces.
