Bottom line is that if you don't want to be raped, take precautions to not get raped. If you can't understand that or heed something that simple, then you are not only setting a bad example, but increase your odds of becoming a victim.
Rape victims range in age from 0 to 87 (that's the oldest one I've seen in the news lately); do you believe that those did not "take precautions not to get raped"? The "bad example" that they set is of more concern to you than the bad example a rapist sets? If you have daughters, I hope you have made it very clear where you stand on this issue so they won't come crying to you for sympathy and understanding if they negligently allow themselves to be raped.

I don't recall saying that rape is a 100% preventable crime. If a person really wants to rape, then they will rape. I am also not blaming the victim at all. I am just simply warning people to be careful because there are some sickos out there. We warn our kids of stranger danger and take the precautions to make sure that they don't get kidnapped right?
People protect their money, their possessions, their loved ones. Is attempting to protect yourself really that hard to do?
It won't stop the crime from happening for 100% of the victims, but it sure as will make it more difficult to accomplish the crime successfully.
If you are a parent (and yes I have a daughter), it is up to you to do everything you can to make sure that your children are safe since they aren't exactly capable of protecting themselves yet.
