The Spurs will also play small ball with Leonard at the 4. If Bertans can hang on the defensive end, it'd be interesting to see him at the 3 in that line up.
Agreed, I feel the same for those 2 and unmotivated Danny Green ty Patty, if Bonner comes back we are seriously ed.

You remember one relatively good series from Bonner? How about this:
In 2012, that humiliating first round loss against Memphis. Bonner was a ing matador on defense, and went 6-18 from the 3P line. And that was good for him, in the playoffs. Because... with the exception of 2012-2013, he's a combined .320 from the 3P line in the playoffs.
If you want to see the Spurs win regular season games, Bonner is an asset. If you want to see them win in the playoffs? Not so much. But, hey, he helped them beat the Thunder one time. It might happen again someday. Because I'm sure he's going to get better with age. And it's looking like he'll be playing here until he's 50.
it's almost a lock that one or both of those guys will be cut.
KA will get a ton of minutes at both F spots.
Yes he is. People see he is 6'10" and automatically want to put him at the 4. But he is a 3. Right now we look like this.
PG- Parker, Mills, Murray
SG- Green, Manu, Simmons
SF- Leonard, Bertans, ???
PF- LMA, KA, ???(LJC?)
C- Gasol, Dedmon, ???
Fear of the unknown can be scary.
You got it wrong. What player right now can the Spurs get on the wing that could tilt the tide to their favour? Even if we could swap Parker for Chris Paul, they still have the match up on us and it would be a battle. The only way teams can be the warriors this year is by not playing small ball and punishing their small team and non shot blockers.
Still for the second year in a row spurs failed to bring a legitimate third wing, which is important no matter what, they still going with Manu at that role which is pathetic..,
What about Erazem Lorbeck ?
Livio Jean Charles
Matt Bonner
Ryan Richards
Cady Lalane
Nikcola Mulitinov

Seems fairly obvious to me that KA and Dedmon will be the first bigs off the bench. KA will take over Diaw's role, and Dedmon will take over West's role. Even if the Spurs do bring in a vet big (let's say Amar'e, for example), I don't think he'd get more minutes than Anderson or Dedmon.
Bertans can play minutes at the 4 if necessary. Both Aldridge and Pau can play minutes at the 5 without problem.
I do hope the Spurs bring in another big (Amar'e was mentioned in another topic and I like that idea), but again, whoever they bring in will almost certainly be behind KA/Dedmon in the rotation.
Philly just traded for big man Sasha Kaun, 6'11" 260 lbs. They have to many bigs.
Would that make it easier for them to trade Nerlens Noel?
They owe us for offering Manu so much money and making us over pay.
^ Philly waived Kaun. And yeh, Philly are looking to trade one of their bigs. We just don't have the assets or the players to get it done. We would have to dump Parker or Mills and unprotected picks for it to be done.
They waived him? Wow,,that was fast
They're likely not going to gift wrap us any of their bigs for, especially after forcing the Spurs hand with Manu.
Gasol is a center, as much as Duncan was one.
The lack of a third big is a clear issue and it'll only be exacerbated when Aldridge/Gasol are given a game off or are injured.
They'll definitely bring in at least one more veteran big, but no one left is good enough to solve this issue.
Stoudemire complained about his limited role last season. Somehow, I don't think he'd be okay being a fringe rotation player, competing with two players (Simmons and Bertans) he's probably never heard of. His game also skews more towards center than power forward, at this point.
I mean I agree that they need to pick up another legitimate center, but again, the Spurs do have a 3rd big. Aldridge, Pau, and Dedmon are all bigs and can play the 5. But yes, let's say Pau gets the night off, then it'll be Aldridge/Dedmon starting and the Spurs will need someone to provide some spot bench minutes at the 5. Won't be a lot of minutes - Pop can just stagger Aldridge/Dedmon's minutes so that one of them is on the court most of the time, but they'll still need someone who's hopefully somewhat decent.
Stoudemire's game being more that of a center is a good thing, isn't it? The problem is that if one of Aldridge/Pau/Dedmon goes down, there will be a clear hole when it comes to a traditional center role. KA and Bertans can likely play the 4 for the majority of matchups, but they sure as can't play center. Someone like Amar'e would be a solid person to do that. Like you said though, he might not be willing to take on that sort of role. The options are pretty limited at this point.
It isn't so much a gift wrap, rather than how many picks we are willing to give up. And picks are pretty valued now, until they restructure the rookie salary.
no big three ... no third big ... this offseason sucks
Ryan Richards was the one guy i had really high hopes for. Could have been a slightly taller version of prime Lamar Odom but the guy for whatever reason whether it be laziness or at ude has bounced around so many teams that i doubt the Spurs are even interested anymore.
Yeah and they didn't even invite him to summer league shows they have written him off.
I can see him as a 5th big behind Dedmon, Aldridge, Pau, KA-- against small ball line ups, he could potentially get Boban-like minutes. Also, I can see some small ball line ups with Kawhi at the 4. Not perfect, but I imagine starting the season this way and seeing what develops. I'd rather give Stokes a shot to be a mini Draymond Green than see Bonner back.

Stokes looked great everytime i saw him play
Stokes is more like a less athletic Brandon Bass than Draymond Green.![]()
He reminded me of Ayers.
