It's the Democrats' responsibility to keep their people in line, not Trump's. Hillary and Obama have both talked a good game about respecting the results and upholding the peaceful transition of power, but unless I'm missing something, neither those two nor any of the other leadership figures in their party have come out to condemn the radical left's violent meltdown.

Trump is talking about how he wants to unify the country, but unity is a two-way street. There's not much he can do if the left would rather behave like a bunch of fascists (with the tacit support of the donor class, political establishment and media, mind you) than give him a fair chance and an open mind. He needs to stay on the message of unity, but there also needs to be a good-faith effort from the other side of the aisle to heal the wounds from this election.
None of that matters in two months. Obama will walk away with entirely no responsibility, just as Bush did eight years ago. Trump will have to do more than just talk. That's not going to stop anyone. Meanwhile, the dems can hand out brass knuckles and handguns, and it will still be Trump's responsibility. Because he will ALWAYS be responsible, not matter who he wants to blame.

That said, he's doing a good job so far with his message. As I said in another thread, I'm actually somewhat optimistic. But the buck will stop with him no matter where the fingers are pointing. That's what he signed up for.

I imagine if it did happen to Trump supporters, they'd either not want to make their choice look bad by blasting fellow supporters or more honestly that they would be sort of ashamed as to what they signed up for. Like what do you when you realize that all the people who thought were your friends are laughing at you, not with you?

Lol nah. If some asshole comes talking and or threatening me or my family I'm not standing around doing nothing. I'm at least reporting a crime regardless. At that point a threat is a threat thinking about embarrassment. That's why I call busll . Just like the target story of a woman looking through the stalls to make sure the woman using the bathroom wasn't a tranny a day after the issue came up. These are people creating memes on the internet because it's easy to brainwash.

But it's not two months from now yet. It's November, Obama is still the sitting president, and the members of his party are currently out of control. The buck stops with him, and he's doing nothing to calm down the national mood other than giving empty pla udes. He says he respects the peaceful transition of power, but he's not doing anything to back it up.

So 5 guys out of 60 millions is many?
Okay. You win. Only a few Trump supporters have ever suggested that a Clinton victory would result in civil war. Just as only a small portion of Clinton supporters (presumably) have engaged in post-election protests.

I'm not running to Twitter about it if that happened now -- and I'm not even a Trump supporter. For me it's not so much embarrassment as much as it's "Why the is it everyone's business?" But if you think that intimidation and embarrassment don't play a role, I don't know what to tell you. That's a sad reality of life. That's even more true for the potential "reluctant majority" who weren't even inclined to say who they were going to vote for out of fear of ridicule.

What do you want him to do? Gas those who protest? Send in the national guard to deal with valid exercises of First Amendment rights?

Yep, but who cares? In two months, it'll be Trump's responsibility even if Obama ships out millions of flamethrowers for Christmas. Someone has a term to protect and the other doesn't even have a legacy anymore.

He could start by making a statement to disavow the riots and call upon the rioters to respect the peaceful transition of power. Hillary should as well.

And no, assaulting political opponents is not a valid exercise of your First Amendment rights. Neither is breaking windows, spraypainting graffiti all over public property, committing arson, making death threats towards Trump and Pence on social media, or blocking traffic. Let's not pretend that these "protests" are just people peacefully marching around with signs. There's a lot more to it than that.

Police Calm Millennial Protesters By Handing Out Participation Trophies

U.S.—As anti-Trump rallies nationwide turned hostile overnight with widespread reports of violence, looting, vandalism, and death threats against the president-elect and his supporters, police in numerous major cities were able to instill calm and regain control by handing out participation trophies to all millennial protesters who were enraged about losing the election, sources confirmed.

The shrewd tactic was the idea New York Police Officer Joe Butler, who has three twentysomething children himself, and noted to reporters Thursday that he remembered how his children “never had to deal with losing as they were growing up.”

“It’s a foreign notion to them. Even in sports—win or lose, everyone won, and everyone got a trophy no matter what. This is the millennial way,” he said. “So I had the idea—hey, why not start handing out participation trophies to the protesters, and telling them ‘Hey, you know what? You may have lost the election, but look—everyone gets a trophy. Everyone’s a winner.'”

Seeing how the trophies had an instantaneous calming effect on the millennials and filled them with a sense of fulfillment and achievement, word spread quickly among police departments nationwide, and emergency trophies were procured by the thousands for use at the rallies.

At publishing time, police had regained control in cities across the country, and the crowds of now-content protesters were heading home with their trophies, according to sources.

There were many arrests. I'd assume the arrests were for the sorts of things that you've mentioned (though blocking traffic, itself, is probably not anything more than an exercise of civil disobedience and not really a criminal offense). Are you saying that everyone involved in the protests -- even those who aren't doing criminal things and are, in fact, merely participating in civil disobedience -- should be arrested?

Texas State probes pro-Trump fliers calling for 'torture' of school leaders over 'diversity garbage'

The fliers appear to be posted by a pro-Trump group calling themselves 'Texas State vigilantes'

Plastered on bathroom mirrors throughout Texas State University Wednesday were fliers calling for the “arrest and torture” of “deviant university leaders spouting off all this diversity garbage.”

The fliers, which lauded the election of Donald Trump calling him “our man,” seem to have been put up by a group called “Texas State Vigilantes,” according to the handouts.

“Now that our man Trump is elected and Republicans own both the Senate and the House — time to organize tar and feather vigilante squads and go arrest and torture those deviant university leaders spouting off all this diversity garbage,” the flier reads

Did the school where the white kids were parading down the halls with Trash posters and racist taunts call the cops to arrest these kids?

Imagine if blacks had done the same? The cops would be all over them, brutalized, arrested, expelled.

This exactly what happened when Obama was elected, remember? People out in the streets, hanging him in effigy. Calling for his assassination, burning flags.

I voted for neither Obama, Hillary or Trump, but I'm telling you; the left is acting worse. Anyone seeing something else is looking through blue glasses. The media took Trumps 10 and turned it up to 12; added hyperbole to his bad enough statements. He is: Racist, Xenophobic, phobic, Mysoginistic - and horribly so; (there is actual evidence to the contrary, but that is irrelevant). We have the anecdotes and in, and out, of context statements to prove it. We are going to say this louder and louder to get our girl elected, and if he happens to win? I hope HE is unifying. They've created this monster. Can't imagine what inauguration day is going to look like. Going to make the drive, though. Going to be my third straight.

They were the right wing LOSERS, not the WINNERS

What's happening now is the right wing WINNERS are committing the hate, taunting, violence.

Goddam, you people really can't think straight, esp with your false equivalence bull .

Other than burning flags, we saw all of those things directed at Obama. I'm not sure how you don't remember that. It was still going on (even intensifying) two years later with the rise of the Tea Party.
