The Starters did their job and Gay (Bench) made the Difference for the win. If DeMar and LaMarcus played that way in game 4 and 5 Spurs already would have been in the 2nd Round.
Not to mention last quarter of game 2

It’s really amazing that this team went from supernatural ball movement to this sticky ball bull . All you get is ball stoppers shooting long 2s. As much slack Paddy and Marco get, they literally made the difference today.

I mean, I get it, let’s blame nephew and look the other way. I just can’t do it. Carmelo Aldridge has the body language of a guy ready to head to Cancun. No fight, no rebellion, just get my numbers and punch the time card. DDR is new, so I’ll cut him some slack, but that whole ISO stuff doesn’t work unless you’re Sweet Lou.

Anyways, happy there’s a game 7, tbh, but still disgusted with the so-called ‘leaders’ of this team (Pop not exempt either)
You sound like a whiny , TBH.

LaMarcus and DeMar are what they've been their entire careers, so expecting them to magically change to Timmy and Manu is asinine. Just be happy that they both played well and with heart so that San Antonio sees another day.

I doubt the team would have been in any position to tie the series without their combined 50+ points.....

You must've hated Prime Tony's (and Timmy's to an extent) game cause it consisted of a lot "hero ball long 2's," wah, wah, wah......

    Oh wait.....

Jokic was also out when LMA and DDR were resting So when the bench made their run, he was immediately subbed in
Nobody said that all the points got scored by Gay. Nothing is ever that simple. The point is that the Spurs couldn't get any separation with Jokic on the floor. And when he went out, they immediately got the separation that finally slowed the Nuggets down. That part is right there in the play-by-play.

They made the run because jokic was resting.
They made a late run that finally built the big lead. But it was the run from late 3rd quarter until early 4th quarter that changed the game, and you're right - Jokic was on the bench.

The other key was Rudy knocking down 3-pointers. They were timely, and they are exactly what has been missing.

You're basically right, but LMA was good, DeMar wasn't.

Demar came into the game in the 4th after the Spurs had already taken control of the game. My worry is the win will fuel more heroball bs from this dude. Like he was responsible in any significant way.

I bet if you look at demar's +/- numbers for this series, they'll be pretty bad, just like in the regular season.

He's just not made for the modem NBA. I hope the Spurs are smart enough to move on in the off-season.

Demar's best net rating this series was a +6, and he had another game at +5. The rest are all negatives, and a net -7.8 for the series overall.

I don't even have a problem with iso-ball. Kawhi definitely deserved a ton of iso plays. This guy doesn't.

So what's the bar Paco? Happy to be 1st round, 2nd round fodder? Not just this team, this season, but going forward... we should just forget about selfless players that want to win and stick with mediocrity?

Is that what makes you happy? Yeah, I'll stick with being a whiny .

And let me add I didn't hate Tim Duncan's 2003 hero balling. He was supernatural and the league simply had both different pace and different rules for big men.

And obviously this LMA can't even sniff the socks of 2003's Duncan, complete apples to oranges.

This is such a silly topic. So our bench made a run against their bench and that means we need to bench our only two competent scorers. Ok, let's just play our bench the whole game and see how that works out.

threads like this need to be made after a W, or people start with ‘this is a knee jerk thread’, or ‘called it’, or some PATFO sperm shielders that don’t show up at all, like after Game 5...
So you have to preemptively melt down so you won't be accused of overreacting to a future loss? SpursTalk logic...

The logic is the other way around tbh... when we lose: “Move to Seattle”, “I’m cutting myself”, “Pop biggest playoff loser”, etc...

It’s difficult to put forth serious, well thought out and intelligent criticism during those times.

No, you have to realize that every team and player will come up short if you try to compare them to the Duncan Era/Tim Duncan.

Of course I'd like the team to win more les (that is why fans watch and players compete), but I'm also willing to go with the flow. This franchise was hoping, praying & wishing for just one le before Duncan and they accomplished that 5 times over.

Gotta give the current group time to either improve, gell and win more or not. No point in ragging and whining whenever they can't reach or exceed goals of a past era.
