Trump got the same votes he got before plus a higher number of some specific demographics. Joe didn't run. The DNC did not handle Joe's age issues very well at all, and forcing him out of the race like that is analogous to putting elderly in nursing homes to get rid of them. It seemed a rude thing to do to a man who came out of retirement to defeat Trump in 2020.

The way the DNC gaslit their own cons uents and many in the media who, let's face it, are often just detachments from either the GOP or DNC, were happy to play along with the rouse. I don't know if this swung voters or just kept some at home, but the DNC had better options (I think) than Kamala Harris who couldn't effectively run on "change" since she was part of the administration she was advertising change from, even though she said she couldn't think of a single thing she would have done differently in an obviously unrehearsed nationally televised appearance.

All in all, it wasn't a good outing by the democrats who either spent 4 years fooling themselves that Joe was sharp, or they suc bed to external pressure to kick Joe out and folks like Pelosi prematurely panicked after that debate debacle.

The strange turn of events from the attempted assassination and the subsequent iconic photo of a bloodied Trump, fist raised, created a powerful boost to Trump's image, even if for intents and purposes it didn't mean anything.

Still, I don't think anyone expected that level of trouncing and I cannot imagine some other better liked candidate with an actual voter base couldn't have done at least as good.

When Dem’s stay home they lose plain and simple. The Dem voters weren’t all that excited at all about Harris even though the talking head pundits tried to play it up like it was the same Obamaesque enthusiasm when it really wasn’t no where close. I personally know more than a few people who were enthusiastic Obama supporters who this time around were totally indifferent on Harris. I’m quite sure most of them stayed home. You have that same thing happening all over the country and you have Trump again

It's an odd thing for Trump to be crying about a pollster that favored Harris when that probably did him a favor. Voters saw she was ahead and stayed home
