He's an absolute monster defender with PG skills and unreal athleticism. Feels like the sky is the limit for the guy's potential.
And I was told by some of the draft experts in here that he was going to be a bust.

Apply the same logic with Castle...

I would not trade Castle for Amen, it's insane to even think about it smh

Two points that is escaping most of you: 1. Amen is in year two ( castle is a rookie ), check back to last year and see how he was viewed; stop being prisoners of the moment. 2. Imagine if the rockets took castle instead of Reed… it would have sucked for us as well as the rest of the league! Count your blessings

Amen was an absolute monster defender last year too. He has looked like the second best player from the 2023 class for a year now.

It's truly fascinating how the "what have u done for me lately" factor is powerful on people tbh...

I love what I'm seing from Amen, but I also remember how was his rookie season or the fact that he's surrounded by so much better players than Castle that allows him to focus on his tasks.

Castle has been moved around, positions, roles, rotations, starter or not AND has to play next to some of the worst players IQ of the league and a team that doesn't even have a proper coach.

It's a bet, I think both players will become very good, AllStar at least but I wouldn't swap Castle for Amen even today.

Castle's ceiling is much higher imo, he has a better feel for scoring, better driving ability and touch on offense. Also as bad as his shot is, it's not as bad as Amen's

Amen is ahead on defense but I don't see why Castle wouldn't become elite in that area too considering his floor is already above average for guys his age.

Houston is not trading Amen. Spurs are not trading Sochan++ for potentially getting better version of Sochan. The only big trade Spurs need is for primary scorer, who can create his own shots and plays guard position
Several of which were available at 8.

This reminded me of a similar thread thinking we should trade for Ja Morant; “Lohnnie and a first should do it” was the proposal.

The emergence of amen Thompson may mean that Houston will consider trading Jabari smith Jr, who I’m still very interested in. He’s a bit of a bust but his fit with wemby looks great on paper.

Long athletic 4 who can shoot, defend and create some what. He’s not elite in anything and his offence has been a bit of a disappointment, but his skill set is intriguing at he is still very young.

I would be up for trading 2 unprotected/lightly protected FRPs with a lottery protected for him, plus salary but not sure if the rockets will consider that. At this point I’d think the rockets are looking for players who can contribute to their core, of which we have none.

I like Jabari smith Jr. But he is kinda frozen out of Rockets offense. He kinda now is this 3&D, where the D is more interior, off ball shot contesting. He hasn't shown the ability to self create and is clearly not being marked by the opponents best defenders.

Do you really need to see a chart to see if you should trade Sochan for Amen?

Here's a handy video that explains why it's actually quite the dilemma to consider a Sochan for Amen trade straight up. The Spurs probably say no...

Amen was injured last year. Before he was injured he was viewed as an elite defender already.

Amen is who some Spurs fans think Jermey is when you read some of their weird fanfic takes. Amen is making great progress - reminds me of Nephew a bit. Once he gets a respectable 3pt shot he’s set.

Hmmm…..don’t cherry pick. Castle is having a better & more impactful rookie year than amen did.
