But as for the thread, yeah, Magic said , he got some flung back. I'm sure he can take it. You have to in this business.

Someone told me that Isiah Thomas and Magic had their own version of "Brokeback Mountain" if you know what I mean. I wonder if it's true.
The worst thing Artest did was ask to be traded. Many players switch teams and they end up happier. So he broke a tv in NY and threw basketballs at people and make bad music, most of us have done worse. It all depends on price to where he goes. If spurs could trade one bench player they will get him but Indina is not that desparate.
Once again Artest proves his brain is disconnected from the reality of life. The only person who got "owned" by his comments is Artest. Here he is, out of a job because of how he has treated the whole Pacers organization... and he burns yet another bridge by taking a hit at Magic's personal life.
Artest just doesn't get it. Magic's "alleged" personal indescretions did have consequences that affected his professional career -- it was cut short. The same thing can happen to Artest.
Artest is making it very hard for the Pacers organization to find him a new team. Soon someone will try to explain all this to him.... wonder how long it will take before he apologizes to Magic for what he said?
Magic got OWN3D. Now had Artest used a bit of restraint and said something along the lines of "Magic, of all people, should appreciate compassion from the league and the public, and second chances", Magic would have been PWN3D.
Why does Magic get a free pass on this? Because he's Magic? Artest was suspended without pay for the balance of the season. How can that not be enough? If you're going to come down harsh on someone's livelyhood, they're GOING to come back at you. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and Tragic just got his windows busted out, that's all.
BTW, if you haven't followed any of the Artest threads, I have no interest in having him in Silver and Black, and am the last person that you could call an Artest apologist. I just think if you get trashed in the press by a hypocrite, you have the right and probably the responsibility to point it out.

Most players in any league except the NBA respect the players/people who came before them. Even if those people get critical.
Nonetheless a living legend like Magic.
I am not all that concerned with this charade that is Artest, I just detest him. Whatever Magic said was probably true and Ron-Ron the gfunk personality from da hood didnt like.
Tough . He can smack talk all he wants, Magic has more camera time to vilify this idiot and more credibility to do so.
Magic is a hall of famer.
Magic is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA (or the sport of basketball).
Magic won 3 (4?) Championships.
Magic won how many MVPs?
Magic, after retiring, has enough business savvy and intelligence to enter into an ownership role with one the most successful franchises in the NBA.
Artest is a 2-time DPoTY.

i don't see why it's "why does magic get a free pass?" he was merely expressing a sentiment 99% of the reporters out there have been saying ever since artest made his comments to the media. many players, like gilbert arenas, have said they would never want artest on their team because of how he acts. it's not going as far as magic is, but they are basically saying the same thing. artest needs to realize he is the one who created this whole situation and deal with the consequences.
I just don't even see a comparison here. Magic and his wife's business is between the two of them, if Cookie can forgive Magic, that's her choice. Now, the Pacers organization has to be responsible to the fans, other players, and all the stakeholders, it's a totally different situation.
But if you MUST compare, it's not like Magic going around cheating on his wife, it's like Magic ruined the chance for Cookie to have the biggest personal achievement of her life (last year's brawl), have Cookie forgive him, and go out and ask for a divorce in public before consulting with his wife.
BTW, Magic won 5 championships.
This is just getting sad. Magic certainly isn't the only one saying this, but Artest decided to take a swipe at him because of what he perceived as a in Magic's armor that most of his accusers don't have. Instead he looks like a six year old, taking a swipe at one of the most respected figures in basketball history.
In my opinion the big difference between the two isn't that Magic is a legend, but that Magic has owned up to the mistakes he's made in his life and has done his best to make ammends. Aside from some half hearted apologies that he was forced to make after the Detroit brawl, I don't know that I've ever seen Artest say that he was wrong or sorry about any of the things he's done.

Magic is too smart to comeback at Artest, he knows he is crazy.

there's nothing dumb about what magic said. artest is the one acting dumb - magic has already been tried in the court of public opinion, apologized for his indescretions to the public and to his wife. i don't think artest is sorry about much he has ever done.

He didn't say anything new that nobody around the league hasn't already arrived at, but what's dumb is to stick his nose in it at all.
That's true knowing Artest he's probably ripped everybody who has criticized him and knowing Magic, he should have known to ignore Ron.
