Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest compared himself wanting a trade to Magic Johnson allegedly cheating on his wife, WRTV in Indianapolis reported.
Artest made the comparison after he found out that Johnson said he didn't deserve a second chance to play in the NBA.
"It's like saying, 'Magic, should your wife give you another chance?'" Artest told WIBC radio on Friday. "He's saying Ron Artest should have no more second chances. What's worse — me saying I want to be traded or you cheating on your wife?"
Recently, Artest has backtracked on his stance of wanting to be traded, saying that he now wants to stay with the Pacers.
“At this moment, we’re not going to put the buggy before the horse,” Artest's agent Mark Stevens said. “We’re waiting to hear from (Pacers president) Donnie Walsh, the gentleman and scholar that he is, and hope this can be resolved to where there won’t have to be a trade.”
The NBA fined Artest $10,000 Thursday for making public statements detrimental to the NBA.
Artest was a key component on a team expected to challenge for the Eastern Conference crown. He leads the league in steals and is the Pacers’ second-leading scorer at 19.4 points a game.
He said he was unhappy playing in Carlisle’s system. Carlisle said any decision regarding Artest’s return would be left up to Walsh and Larry Bird.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

That was pretty damn funny.
Artest is insane.
Ron Artest is a ing idiot. There have been some real morons to enter the NBA out of *cough*college*cough*, but this HS drop out loser takes the cake.
I have never wished injury on ANY player except Ville Niemenen (if you dont watch hockey, dont bother).
Artest has made my list. I hope someone under-cuts him and his career ends so he can pursue his dreams of rap s om.

That is freakin' awesome.
Magic just got PWN3D.
ok thats it.
ARTEST to the spurs!
DO IT!
he he he.. no way
That's hilarious. Too bad he didn't make an HIV crack.
If Magic talks back, I'm sure an HIV remark is in the works.
I guess if you make a comment about someone you shouldn't be surprised when they fight back. It was a fair reply but I don't think Ron came up with it on his own, his agent probably told him to say it.

Old news, he said like a week ago. It's pathetic that Artest feels the need to make a comment about something in the personal life of a LEGEND, something that happened many years ago. Shows how little respect he has for the game (by showing disrespect to a legend) and that Magic is correct in what he said, since Artest obviously had nothing basketball-based to use as a rebuttal.
^^^
So Magic is not in the wrong??
Suprise suprise a Laker fan finds a former laker infalliable.
Sorry Myzte, but your way off.
That's the best point that's been made. Where the did this "alleged" crap come from?!

So what? Where the does Magic get off going ivory ing towers on anyone's 'issues'?It's pathetic that Artest feels the need to make a comment about something in the personal life of a LEGEND, something that happened many years ago.
Showtime needs to look in the ing mirror.
That might be the greatest thing Artest has ever said in his life, or will ever say.
Magic's sexual escapades may have cost the Lakers a few more Finals/ les.
Because of his being HIV positive, he had to retire far before he was done. He still had 4/5 year's left. That may have been another le or two.
Magic's irresponsiblity cost his team. His irresponsibility stemmed from his cheating on his wife. Perhaps Artest didn't intend this, but you helped connect the dots.
Magic is far from innocent and FAAAARRRR from a victom.
If you don't want your own character and intregrity question and/or attacked, then don't publicly rip another for theirs.
If Magic wanted to keep his personal life personal, he should have faded off into the shadows a long time ago. It's the nature of celebrity, your past WILL haunt you. Funny how Magic thinks artest does not deserve another chance, but aren't his Lakers climaxing like Kobe at a Denver resort at the thought of getting Artest on their roster???
Well I, a Spurs fan, agree with her.
Basketball should be separate from personal life, and Artest refuses to think so.
The response was a personal attack towards Magic, and what Magic said about Artest doesn't come anywhere close to justifying it
So, should players get fined and suspended for getting caught with drugs? beating their wife? Trying to sneak a gun on a plane? The league uses players personal lives against them. You have to remember, Magic is not just a member of the media spewing out crap from time to time, most players shake that off. This is a former player, A LEGEND, turning his back on another NBA fraternity member.
I can not think of any instances off hand, but it seems to me that Magic will at times knock other players a bit harshly. At least when Barkley throws it in, he'll praise the players overall talent and throw in a joke when he bashes them.
Off the subject, but I'm still waiting for Stern to get caught smoking his crack pipe under his car seat.
