    Customer service doesn't mean to me. That's why I love Best Buy. I like browsing and I hate when sales people constantly come up to you and ask "Is everything ok?"

    Just give me cheap prices and leave me the alone.
    Today I was at Circuit City and I needed the guy to put batteries in one of the digital cameras so I could check it out, he was right there and was able to help me, if he hadn't been I wouldn't have been able to check it out, so being available if necessary is very helpful.

    Also as SpursWoman mentioned, it should be obvious who needs help and who doesn't, and people often ask but I don't think it's bad for them to ask, sometimes you have one of those questions you wouldn't bother to go out of your way to ask but since they asked you first, you go ahead.

    BTW, the customer service at Circuit City by North Star was pretty poor, especially the cashiers we dealt with today.

    Seems like an odd reason not to buy a laptop, I mean I could understand not eating at a ghetto dirty restaurant, but an electronics store?

    You'd be better off with them, nobody has as lenient of a return policy as they do, at least not as far as I know....

    One more thing, I actually hate to buy retail, I could have saved 36.00 today had I bought online but since it was a gift I needed it asap.

    I always made eye contact when customers came into the department, you could usually tell from their body language if they wanted to talk or were just checking.

    If they looked indifferent I'd introduce myself and just tell them if they needed anything feel free to ask.

    If you badger people you just piss them off. I wasn't the one of the golden sales boys to my area manager though, probably because I never tried to sell 100 packs of blank dvds to the grandmas and grandpas just looking for something simple to check email and download digital photos with. Oh well.

    Oh yeah, I went to Best Buy a couple weeks ago to get an iPod adapter for my car and they were about to close, line of about seven people, only two cashiers, one turns off her light and decides to start doing her closing , cleaning and organizing around her, that type of thing.

    I'm kind of irritated by this, I figure since they are closing she might as well stay on and get everyone out of there, either way one cahsier for seven people isn't enough.

    As a former cashier I know that if you don't close when you need to, no matter how long the line is, you won't leave for long after you are supposed to. I used to say that line, I'm going home. Can't blame the person for wanting to burn off. If she stayed to help finish off the line, she would've been there for hours because those lines never end.

    I hate it when a salesperson asks if I need any help as soon as I enter the store. People, I'm an impulse shopper! Let me browse, dammit!
    Me, too. And, if they continue to follow me around the store like they think I'm gonna steal something when I'm only looking? I'm outta there. If they don't trust me enough to shop in their store without so much "assistance", frankly, I don't trust them enough to shop there.

    Best Buy is so awesome. I like walked into the store, found a product I wanted and then they let me buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost touched myself then and there.

    Best Buy is a wasteland if you plan on spending more than a C note. You get much better service and information from boutique electronic stores.

    I was buying speaker wire to test my HT system when the BB salesman pitched me on the Monster Z1 speaker wire, which was only 10x the cost of the speaker wire I intended to buy. Once he told me that the "break-in" period* for the Monsters was a few weeks, I had to walk away without laughing in his face...

    *There is no such thing as a break-in period for wire/interconnects...
