Oh and lets not forget that the Spurs don't have a first round pick this year either because of the trade.

    Thank you Peter Holt.

Let's see. Malik played over 30 minutes four times. In those four games he had double-doubles in all of them. The Knicks won three of the four games.

Malik has always sucked if he doesn't get regular playing time. But give him a role and you have a player who will die for a win.
Other way to see this thing :
Malik was only 4 mes good enough to deserve 30 minutes of playtime.

He doesn't get regular playtime because he wasn't good enough. Plain and simple.

Eh, I don't really care if the Spurs do or not. But to make a trade for a player based on financial reasons is wrong.

Also, not doing all you can to fill a void that has been obvious for years (Long Three/Agile Four) is just dumb. How long have we known the Spurs needed a 6-foot-8 type player who is long, can rebound and defend?

    Years.

They took away two 1st round picks from one of the best, if not the best talent evaluation staffs in the NBA and gave up a proven, versatile bigman role player with championship experience for a center whose ass is permanently attached to the bench in this series. Awesome.

Where are all those Spurs fans who cheered for Holt Cat's $?

If we still had Malik Rose, guaranteed he would have been starting this series. You're exactly right, Timvp. Rose would have been perfect for this series.

No but we won't have to pay Nazr 3 more year at $7M/year and Rasho wasn't a part of this deal.
For the record I take Rasho over Malik :
    7' center > 6'5" PF

Besides the future onslaught of Greg Oden, is there even any reason to have a center in today's game anyways?

Shaq is obviously on the decline

A center who is useless in the playoffs is greater than a two-time NBA champion who has a history of coming up big in big moments.

How am I off the wagon???

Just because I got pissed means nothing. I am not off the wagon, I haven't given up, and I am still going to watch the rest of this series, regardless of how many games it lasts.

And by the way, how am I a bandwagoner?

There's nothing wrong about getting over a loss and planning for the future is there?

Other than against Yao, what NBA team could the Spurs play in the playoffs that would make Rasho be worth his contract?

He's seven-foot and knows where to be defensively. You need to be able to do more than that. If he could score or rebound well on top of it, he'd be a good player. But when he's not rebounding or scoring, he's useless.

Remind me what Malik did in the four games he got decent minutes.

Channing Frye was averaging 15 and 7 in December. His minutes went down each month for some unknown reason. By the end of the season he was barely playing. You think he sucks to or perhaps Larry Brown had something to do with it?

Malik is overpaid too and more useless than Rasho.

Malik was not useless in the Spurs' rotation. The Spurs made the bidness decision and went with the move to cut long term salary. Don't believe the trade was for any other reason.

Malik would see minutes when the Spurs would have to go small. The NBA is getting smaller, not bigger. Nowadays Malik's height wouldn't even be a problem.

I wasn't in love with Malik, but I do think he was a good role player against the right teams. Dallas would qualify as one of those teams.
