Define Showdown.
If a hand is not folded, both players must show cards at the end unless some one forfeits.
If a hand is folded by either player, no cards have to be shown.
Correct?
Any player involved in a showdown (2 or more players still in after all betting complete) is subject to having to show their cards. If there are no callers, then you don't have to show your hand.

I thought I just did define showdown... it's when 2 or more players are still in after all the betting is complete. I don't know of any other way to describe it.
congrats Kori, Great to see.
Wish I could've been there to participate.
Kori wins again tonight.
We head to Hooligans for a midnight game. First time there. Kori takes down about 25 people and wins $25 cash and $25 gift certificate.
Props.
P.S.
Hooligan's setup is pretty nice. 3000 chips to start. Blinds go up slowly the first hour and then faster toward the end. Compe ion is decent and setup is comfortable.
I think they said they have games Mon-Thur at 6PM, 9PM and midnight.
Some people are just naturals for certain games. It's becoming obvious Kori is a tourney natural. Even the going out early or winning strategy is in my estimation the perfect strategy for most winning players. Unfortunately, the numbers get in my way when making calls, betting, and bluffing so i'm not a consistent winner just a consistent high finisher in tourneys which is a waste of money.
Congrats Kori and keep up the good work. Try some of the online satelites to maybe win a seat at the WSOP. I knew someone who did that and finished 8th two years ago. He won 575k! You certainly have the toughness that's needed.
Thanks.
For some reason, I suck online. I'm much better live. I'm good at Omaha online, but I get really impatient in Hold 'Em online. We've played in four bar poker Hole 'Em tourneys this week and I've won twice, final table one other time, and I got 15thor so (out of 45) in the other one.
If online doesn't work I think there is a SA Poker Club that holds WSOP satelites. not for the main event, but for the other lower buy-in tourneys
I'm playing in a WSOP satellite with some SAPC players on the 18th. The buyin is 130 or a 120, I can't remember and it is to one of the smaller hold em events. If Kori (or anyone else) is interested let me know and I'll get you info.
The WSOP Main Event is not even worth trying to qualify for, I'd much rather have 10k in cash. Most pro's even say with a field of 8000-10000 its pretty much like playing the lottery.
Kori only won that last tournament because the blinds structure was normal
Thanks.
Manny I'll let you know if LJ or I would be interested in that tournament.
When do the WSOP events start this year, end of June?
the other WSOP tourneys are a little smaller. Main Event is a crap shoot except for Raymer and Harrington.
Did she give the cash to you? She said in another thread that it's your job to carry all the cash.

Yes I gave it to him when we got in the car.
Yeah, she's my poker ringer. I just go with her and lose and then pocket her winnings.

Congratulations Kori. My theory on why you play so good is because you're not skerred to make the big play. I also think you not f'ing with yourself over the mindgames of percentages and statistics works in your favor.
May you one day win the WASP so I can hoc your significantly overpriced novelty merchandise on LA street corners. For example, Kori Ellis novelty dice will have your embroidered signature and I will sell them for $19.99 apiece. The fools will hand me a $20 and expect change back, but I will say I do not have any change and that is where I will make the money.

whatever happened to a good game of spades? am i the only one who still loves this game? i could spend hours playing (and usually winning) but i dig all card games
Cyber Bob plays a mean game of Texas Hold'em. Add two trophies to his beach house's mantle.
Man, tonight Whitney took down a 62 person tournament. It was a damn impressive showing. $50 first prize.
Me, Kori, Kris and Whitney have gone to four barpoker.com events and have 2 firsts, 1 third, 2 fifths and 2 sevenths combined.

I told LJ and Kori that Whitney was playing the best card I had ever seen her play the night before at Wings N' More. She finished 10th out of 100 and was playing well against the best of them, so I knew she was getting better, but I didn't know she would take down 62 people the next night.
One of the best parts of her game is how people cannot figure out what cards she has/had and keep guessing.
Nice job, Whitney.
That sounds like a lot of fun ... but I suck at poker.
Awesome job!
Kori,
Of the mul udes of how-to poker books available, many with conflicting info, have you found one or two to be superb?
I would never read a poker book.
Ask Manny, he would know.
