Kris is my #1 fan.
I knew when I got to the final 3 that I was going to win even though I had the least chips. Playing 40-some people is ridiculously fun.
I think that's my 8th trophy, Kris.![]()
Last night I witnessed Kori take down a massive 42 man tournament at Martini Ranch (just inside 410 on West Avenue). I think the tournament was sponsored by Bar Poker. Whitney, myself, and LJ all were ousted but Kori ended up easily winning a final 3 showdown as the shortstack. The number 1 chip holder who had moved to the table had double her going in to the final rounds, but Kori beat both chip favorites without ever being pushed to the brink of elimination.
The sole first place prize as it turns out will be retroactive for some technical reason that I never understood. However, what was apparent was that by winning the tournament Kori got major points towards a Texas championship poker tournament and towards 1 of 4 spots in the World Series of Poker.
It's not that far fetched that Kori gets one of those if she plays in enough outside tournaments. Like I propheted a few days ago, Kori is the real deal.
First outside (commerical) tournament.
42 players total.
1 winner.
Winner takes all.
Kori.
Damn - well at least I know I choose a good playing style to model after.

I was going to say it's because you weren't at the same table as me, but you were.
So I'm just going to shut up and be your apprentice.
Congratulations you school yard bully.
Phil Helmuth = Kori's
Kori has ice in her veins, this lady is stone ing cold man, if you play across from her, I feel for ya.
Well done Kori.![]()

Nice.
Go Kori!
Domination thy name is Kori
Thanks.
I usually don't play outside house games. I don't really enjoy the crowded tables with people smoking all over you at these bar things. But hey ... it's free to enter.
I got up early and knocked out the absolutely most obnoxious poster player that I've ever been around. I even warned him in about the third hand what was going to happen later. I had the biggest chip stack on my table after playing pretty aggressive, so I mellowed out in the middle rounds. When we got to the final table of 8, I probably had the second most chips of the 8, but the leader was up about 2 1/2 - 3 times on me.
When we got to the final 3, I was barely short of the guy in 2nd but the previous chip leader was still up on me by far. So I went back to aggressive mode and won fairly easily.
It was fun.
Nice job. There are some obnoxious s at those tournaments who think they're good.
I played a few Bar Poker things on the soufside last fall and they were fun, though I agree with Manny, a few of them think they know waaay too much just cus they watched the WSOP on ESPN.
Case in point- my sister's (now ex) boyfriend. I had never played in a Bar Poker tourney, and he had so the whole drive to the bar all he did was give me tips, pointers, etc. I was polite but wasn't really listening. He was like the fifth guy out of the tourney out of like 50+ who showed up. I made the final table. Of course, I was down to three whole chips by that time, and was the first one out at the final tablebut goes to show that a whole lot of people are all talk, no skill.
Bar Poker and Love My Poker games are a much larger crapshoot than a regular tourney. In a regular tourney where you start off with more chips and the blinds don't go up so fast, you have a larger time for skill show its advantadge. What makes up for that is that the people who play in these tourneys are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo godamn bad.
I've played in several home games around town where the players get so happy to see people from bar poker join them because they are the defenition of dead money.
Anyhow, I had fun when I used to play at those things. Won won, made a load of final tables. Good fun for the price.
Actually we started with 1500 in chips and the blinds went up damn slow. Two hours in the blinds were 100-200. Even at the end the blinds were only 500-1000, which was nothing.
The compe ion level there was actually decent. It was a lot older and more serious than the LoveMyPoker ones I've been to.What makes up for that is that the people who play in these tourneys are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo godamn bad.

But yeah Kris is right ... Kori is getting into the Stu Unger level of wins per tourneys entered ratio.

Exactly, I was begging for the blinds to go up faster. But Manny has to come into the thread act like a know-it-all and letting everyone know it's just a ty system, low number of chips, fast blinds and a crapshoot, even though he wasn't there. So me winning doesn't mean .
Thanks for clarification from the poker pro.

WTF? I never said winning didn't mean ? Don't twist my words, I even gave you props! Whatever, if you want to jump at a chance to be defensive, go right ahead.
Once again, Nice Job.
Thats a damn nice system. I wish the other bar poker things were like that. How do you qualify for a WSOP seat through them?
Manny vs. Kori heads up at my place. Tickets at the door for $15
Manny, it's what you do. You don't give ANYONE credit in regards winning poker, no matter how many times you lose. I was telling LJ last night that you would come in this thread and explain how it was just lucky, that the blinds go up too fast, and that it was a "crapshoot" and no chance for utilizing any skill. You did exactly that .. including the word crapshoot.
Congrats on being a predictable asshole.![]()
Godamn, whats even more is that you could derive that I was giving you more props for winning this thing because of the crappy structures they usually run.
Give me a break! I came in here and gave you props. Congrats on twisting my words to what you wanted to hear.
They have 4 seats they are giving away. We didn't ask any questions but I believe you ac ulate points and then they will have tournaments of the top point leaders to give away the WSOP seats. I think it's way too late in the season to get enough points to have a chance though.
Oh LJ was wrong about one thing though, in the last few hands in was up to 1000-2000.
A couple questions for people who play more than me. I tried to ask Manny last night when I got home but I think he was asleep.
1. In one hand, a girl bet and I called her. In the end, she showed and had paired her J. I had Q9 Suited and had flopped 2 pairs. I showed my Q and said "Queens" but they forced me to show my second card. Why? They said you have to show both. *shrug*
2. Another time, I said I declined to cut when it was turn to cut. They said you aren't allowed to decline. Is that true?
