I don't think Pop is going anywhere until Duncan retires.

And I would never want Larry Brown here. He's a whiner. He's a nomad. He doesn't relate well to his players. And he's not loyal at all. The fact that he even spoke to Cleveland during the Pistons' 2005 playoff run is completely disgusting.
    F' Larry Brown.

If Pop gets some more les, great. If he goes 3-11 or 3-12 or whatever with the lineups he has had, I think that will be selfish crap also and hope the door hits his arse on the way out.

To the threads topic, no L.B. for me either.

!!! Out of all the great Kings players over the past few years (Webber, Peja, Hedo, Bobby, Artest, Wells, Shareef, Bibby, Christie, Miller), you picked Vlade.
This might have been when you were pretty young, but Rick's Portland teams that went to the Finals weren't too shabby either. Wrapped around Drexler, he had Buck Williams, Terry Porter, and 6th man Drazen Petrovic. I think all four of them were all-star quality players.

To say nothing of Kevin Duckworth (also an All-Star) and Jerome Kersey.

The comparison of Pop's tactics with Riley's is quite apt. I'm absolutely certain that if the Spurs had a player like Walker or Haslem, Pop would have played that guy and stayed relatively big -- big enough that the crying about small ball would be quite hollow. The solution to that problem isn't to play a bunch of bigs who move a glacial speed against a team that is small and exploiting its speed advantage; the solution is to find bigs who are athletic. Pop didn't have those and his team probably lost because of it. But in my estimation, that's not a tactical decision within a series; it's a failure to identify the change in the style that would win at playoff time. And, by all accounts, it seems that the dramatic change in style has caught most of the basketball world by surprise.

Nevertheless, Popovich, whatever else you think of him, had his team in position to win that series. You can complain about the fact that the Spurs have only played in 3 Finals, but you might think about this in doing so: the Spurs could very easily have reached 5 Finals in Pop's time and have played in 4 straight if they'd just had a bit of luck. The last 2 eliminations have come by the slimmest of margins (.4 and whatever the we'll end up calling the last 30 seconds of Game 7) that had nothing whatsoever to do with Popovich.

As for overall value, Pop even admits that all of his success is attributable to Tim; but I think that's what makes him so effective in the end. With this bunch, I'll take Pop every day.

FACT: Larry Brown will be bought out/fired/ousted as the NYK coach before next year.

FACT: Most of the blame for this years playoff underachievement is placed on the shoulders of Greg Popovich. Very little credit is given to our opponent.
FACT: A "shakeup" to bring back the excitement and spotlight to San Antonio Spurs basketball is looming and appropriately in order.
FACT: Hiring Larry Brown would do just that.

What do you think?? I'm NOT asking how "likely" you think it is...if it could happen, what do you think are the pros/cons? Would it work...or fail?

    SOUND OFF:
Congrats for making one stupid ass thread.
