My favorite all-time is the Amelie soundtrack. It lived in my car's cd player for months straight. has anyone heard this one, or the goodbye lenin soundtrack?
you mean putting a non-score song in a movie right? morricone and leone were way ahead of that, but i see what you mean. oftentimes leone would have the music morricone composed playing when the scene it was intended for was shot, which is way cool.

Lots of good ones so far. A few more that come to mind:
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover -- Michael Nyman's best contemporary classical soundtrack, IMO
Go -- mostly electronica, with some interesting stuff
Out of Sight -- David Holmes was doing cool soundtrack-style work before this, and someone finally let him cut loose with an actual movie; Ocean's Eleven is good as well
Great Expectations -- mostly low key adult alternative stuff, really listenable on a slow day
Brokedown Palace -- all over the map, from lilith fair to ska to a drum and bass cover of "Rock the Casbah"
American Psycho has a pretty good soundtrack if you like 80's music.
Lots of good soundtracks named...
Didnt see these ones:
Fifth Element (1997)
Jackie Brown (1997) - another good soundtrack from a Tarantino flick
12 Monkeys (1996)
Friday (1995) - good soundtrack for kicking back![]()
Hackers (1995) - was a big favorite when I was younger
Do the Right Thing (1989)
Best of all time no questions asked? Just like you were a great pick no questions asked at #20.
Lost Boys - good 80s generic rock
Transformers - Same Reason + Stan Bush + Weird Al "Dare to be Stupid" lol
Mortal Kombat - had a bad ass Fear FActory song from Demanufacture, and the best Techno song of ALL TIME "Halcyon + on + on" by Orbital.
Spawn - Surprised noone mentioned this. Mixed Techno beats with generic metal songs, end result was a soundtrack with 75% good songs. "Trip Like I do" by Filter is probably my favorite.
Tales From The Hood - e 1 "Born II Die". 'Nuff said.
Lost Highway - Full of this bad ass Italian composer, trent reznor, marilyn manson, and of course Eye by Smashing Pumpkins. Best Soundtrack of jr high.
Man, how did I forget the Lost Boys and Lost Highway? Especially that Lost Boys.
Lost Boys has a bad ass lineup. Tim Capello "I Still Believe" is one of an 80's song that gets you hyped up, without being too hard. The dude rocks it out on a freaking Saxophone!
That dude dude rocks the sax with out his shirt. That's talent.
Yes. I loved the Amelie soundtrack.
Conan the Barbarian is probably my favorite.
Basil Poledouris has a bad ass soundtrack for Conan 1 and 2. I have both fully downloaded. They're cool to listen to when you're reading fantasy novels etc. I was going to mention those but I figured noone would agree![]()
That's a good one.
I'm not a huge Marilyn Manson fan, but his cover of "I Put A Spell On You" is quite good.
I remember scrounging up money for a week and a half so I could buy it at the store for 17 bucks. I had to do some playground hustling. The next day they had it on sale for 9.99.
Dancer in the Dark was also a cool soundtrack.
Have you ever watched Harold and Maude?
Cat Steven's Trouble is simply astounding within the context of the screenplay.
The Crow, both soundtrack and score
The Dreamers
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Whoever said Spawn and "Can't you trip like I do" is dead on. That song was brilliant. Never liked techno and hardly acknowledged crap like Filter, but that song and the soundtrack just effin' worked!
Two more great ones.
Didn't Unfaithful have piano covers of various Radiohead songs? Even if not, that piano play was haunting and sit the mood perfectly.
Did anyone mention Good Will Hunting yet?
This thread made me want to listen to it again, the CD also has "Long Hard Road out of " by Manson and Sneaker Pimps
Torn Apart by Stabbing Westward and Wink
One Man Army by Tom Morello and Prodigy, another great one
Last but not least is Atari Teenage Riot and Slayer for "No Remorse" which is ANOTHER great techno+metal song. Spawn soundtrack totally owns.

The Mission is one of my favorite pieces of music ever.
It's been really weird, the last 6 months, all I have been listening to is soundtracks.
Right now I've been playing Shawshank Redemption, Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, 28 Days Later, The Assassination Of Jesse James, and a movie called Waterborne that Dredg did. Anyone got any suggestions for other good original soundtracks?
I don't know if it's your cup of tea, Mardigan, but I've been listening to the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack pretty frequently since the movie's release. "Jai Ho" and M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" are two of my favorite songs released in the last couple of years.
One of my favourite soundtrack albums is easily from 'Requiem for a Dream'.
No songs, but a greaty moody score composed by Clint Mansell and performed by the Kronos Quartet. Amazing soundtrack, to an awesome movie.
I'd also agree with the Crow Soundtrack, but i believe it was Nine Inch Nails who did a cover of the cure song on that album - not the original? ETA: My mistake, NIN did a cover of Joy Division... also an awesome song.
Also, the soundtrack to Fight Club is pretty good quality. Dust Brothers, i believe?

I came onto this page just to make sure the Crow album was on here. Some other good ones mentioned, such as Req for a Dream, Mortal Kombat, Conan, and Forrest Gump.
Also, not sure if it's been mentioned, but I enjoyed the Blade II soundtrack. Techno/rap mixes. Some of them were pretty fun and interesting.
