    This about Americans who root for other countries. If you are from another country then this does not concern you. You should root for your own country first and then every one else second. In this world today sports has an impact on the world stage. Any American who wishes to root for another country to defeat America should simply go live in that country. If you think it does not matter then you have lived a very sheltered and shallow life.

    Something tells me this thread is going to end up being transferred to the political forum.

    One of the main reasons I love international compe ions is that it transcends, most of the time, the that is going on in the rest of the world. While there are so many countries that hate America right now for political reasons, they are able to separate American athletes from their government and welcome them with open arms. During a time when so many are at odds, it will be wonderful to see so many countries coming together and exhibiting the kind of humanity and sportsmanship on the court that I so wish could be the standard by which we live.

    It will be quiet hard to make everybody win But you have the good at ude.

    I root for France because I am french and you have more fun rooting for a team. I also want to see this growing french generation. i can't wait till they are all in their prime. In a near future France should be a tough matchup for any team including the USA.

    My main concern is to enjoy a good tournament with great basketball.
    I don't really care abouit who will get the championship.

    I'm an American, I'd root for the USA in basket weaving, basketball, war or anything else. No individual has the power to sway my allegience. Having said that, I wish Manu and Fabricio luck, I like them a lot and hope they do very well. But I'm pulling for the USA.

    Regarding Manu, I'm more interested in him kicking ass for the Spurs next playoffs.

    While I'll be rooting for the USA team, I don't feel obligated to root for them cuz I'm an American. It's a friggin basketball tournament...some of you need to direct your patriotism at more important things
