How long have you lived in NY city?
    Since 1996.

And I read all about his predecesors, Dinkins and Koch, which by all accounts sucked at being mayors.

    Your point is?

Preserving what's left of the cons ution.

In Mexico, a hundred dollars can help you avoid arrest for doing nothing.

Giuliani totally transformed the city in 8 years as mayor. He is a decisive leader, not afraid to make controversial decisions, an excellent public speaker and communicator, he also had a knack for pissing off liberals and the press... a big plus. I know Giuliani was a great mayor , especially after 12 years of Ed Koch and 4 hideous years of David Dinkins.

He is also a common sense Republican, not a social or political ideologue, the Christian Taliban faction of the Republican party hate him... another plus, put him with a true conservative as a running mate, and I think
    the have a winner.

What Guiliani did for NYC is no secret, some might have a real problem with his heavy handed routine and I have heard allegations that he can be ever more stubborn than GWB.

Regardless of his past indiscretions, it will weigh heavily in all considerations of him. Also, to his benefit, the extra-marital affair he had prior to his divorce was already made public - that's old so it won't glare so harshly when it gets dragged out into the spotlight again.

The nomination will go to whoever has the biggest War chest, filled with $.
However, 2 years is a long time for an assload of dirt to get dug up. or for
someone else to float to the top. I can't support anyone this early.

Guiliani will get smacked down for his adulterous, cousin marrying, abortion and gay rights supporting stance that the conservatives will not stand for.

Unless they flip-flop and decide to support him anyway.

They're more likely to flip-flop on McCain than Guiliani. McCain has been the one investing a lot of political capital lately cozing up to the Terry Schaivo crowd.
