When the other people are rolling their eyes or *gasp* tell the parents to "do something" ... that is what makes me mad
I agree...for me its more worry than anger. If I get upset...I just keep going...its all you can do.

Wellll....lemme play mom here for a second and I think the other moms here will agree with me. And while I agree that a lot of parents don't parent, I can understand why the kid is up

Most toddlers are up at the crack of dawn. When mine were little I was always up by 5 am. You can try putting them back to sleep, but usually once they are up, they are up and raring to go.

Now, yes, they should try and keep the kid quiet, but it's also quite possible they don't know how loud it is below them.
See now, that would be the reason I posted that which is found at the following address - http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-8/817573/noisyneighbor.jpg - on their door after putting up with the 24/7 noise for a couple weeks (signed and with a gold seal of course). I figured either they'd appreciate the humor and shut up a bit, or it would piss them off enough to confront me about it ... but they just crumpled it in front of my door.

Well then ... that's a different story. I guess you should call the apartment management. Trust me, they usually get pissed off at people who make a lot of noise

Oh!!!! Who was it here that posted about getting back at a loud neighbor. Remember we were all giving him song suggestions?
    S y,

That was me, about six months ago. I had neighbors that would party and make noise all night upstairs, throwing beer cans and cigarette butts onto my patio and the grassy area where I take the dog out. So I started blaring news-talk radio at them when I woke up at 6:30. I'd leave it on full blast all day and turn it off when I got home. And I have a VERY nice, over-the-top sound system.

It got even better when my next-door neighbor got in on it, and she was blaring Tejano music out of her place. My building has four apartments in it, and the one above her was vacant, so she was game.

It got to the point where I was downloading and burning music, famous speeches, evangelists, zoo noises, etc. just to piss them off. Random playing on 100-disc changer. My girlfriend was at the time on the most popular morning news-talk show in Dallas, and they discussed it one morning for about five minutes on-air. She emailed it to me and I burned about 16 copies of it on a CD, and set that for repeat one morning.

Finally about ten days into this, they came downstairs and we had a chat. The girl was furious with me, telling me that I was a , yadda-yadda-yadda. I told her that as long as they kept me up at night, I would keep them up during daylight hours. And if anything happened to any of my property, my house, my dog, my truck, etc, that I would call my buddy Lance, the cop who patrols this area usually. We dubbed their apartment "Club Whiskey Tango", and Tiffany would make spoof club/party flyers on her work PC, full color and glossy paper, and we would pin them on the clip next to the door.

They finally moved out about two months ago, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Me, my GF, Tiffany, her fiance, and a couple of other people sat on my patio and drank Shiner Bock and watched them move their out. The best part was after they had people over all the time partying until the wee hours, no one would help them move. Seeing a 110 lb. girl and a scrawny little carrying an entertainment center down a staircase is something you have to see for yourself. Especially when you despise them.

    2blonde,

I am not pointing fingers at anyone here but it is general knowledge that people who don't have kids sometimes don't get the reasons they behave the way they do.

I remember before I was a parent and I saw a kid acting up or whatever, my immediate reaction was, "my kid will NEVER do that!". Well, guess what? They have and still do sometimes. Going to the store with the both of them isn't a pleasant experience (and they are 9 and almost 12 and should know better) and I think it's safe to say that anyone on these forums who have met my kids would agree that they are pretty well behaved.

Moral of story: Just wait until have kids (if you choose to have them). Then you will understand.

    steps off soapbox
I'm a parent and I still say my kid will never do that and stare.

    JK,

Whew, I'm lucky my girl is a very well behavied in public. Ever since she was born, we would be able to go to resturants and eat without a problem. She would just set in her little car seat and stare at us. Know at 7, wether it be at a dr office or at the store, she's very quite and most of the time happy just to be with us. Everyone always comments on how well behavied she is. Most kids can't stay still. Of course she does have her moments.

They say your next kid is totatly opposite from you first, so we're holding our breath for our new love coming next month.

Mine are usually well behaved and I have had people tell in restaurtants how well behaved they were in restaurants when they were little.

What they usually do in the store is try to punch and trip each other. It's very rare that I take the both of them with me when I go shopping. And when we go out to eat, they do not sit next to each other. By themselves, they are fine. They aren't like this every time.

However, when the were little, I did things on THEIR shedule. I didn't go to the store or whatever when it was nap time and we would usually go out to eat when it was their lunch or dinner time. It sovled a lot of problems. I think there are a lot of parents out there that don't have their kids on a schedule, hence, the acting up in public.

Aparently the 2 kids upstairs are about 4 or 5. Why the are these kids running around at 4 am, I don't know. But their parents need to take them outside everyonce in a while, it sounds like a gymnastics school up there.

I don't mean to laugh, but I'm just picturing one of them doing backflips off the couch at 4 in the morning while the other swings from the light fixture.

Neighbors upstairs moved in a few days before I moved out and I had the same problem. What kind of parent lets their kids stomp around at 3 in the morning?

Either way, I always wake up early, so I'd just bang on the ceiling at 7 in the morning when I knew they were asleep. I don't know how it affected them, but I felt better.

This thread just reminded me how grateful I am to now have moved on to an apartment with all of my own walls and no noisy neighbors (with the exception of the dogs next door - but at least I get to throw leftover soda on them guilt-free )

The first thing you have to do is find out what the neighbors phone number is. Then after you get it, start calling them but say nothing and keep calling them. Eventually, who ever answers the phone will tell the kid and everyone else in the place to stay quiet so they can better listen and maybe get a clue as to who keeps calling them. You will have them trained like Pavlovs dogs. So when you hear them make noise give them a call.

Well, when you live in an apartment noise during times 8:00 am, and 10:00 pm is the norm before the office will send a lease violation..Have you already talked to your office about this problem? I know we have sent out notices for excessive noise to some of our residents in the past so there is something that can be done.
