I was a bit nervous with this bet at first, because I thought Chuck-Wagon was out of shape. In the end Chuck came through.

Damn that was funny....I love Barkley...he's like this was all for a good cause. We're donating (then he looks at the check) two blackjack hands worth of money to the Boys and Girls club... It was a check for $50,000.

I have to admit, I didn't think Barkley had a chance. Bavetta runs like 4 miles a day or something...Barkley had the longer legs which is why I think he won.

    Next Year should be:

    Barkley vs. Shaq

    Winner takes on Magic.

it has to do with the fact that Barkley is in his 40s and Bavetta is in his 60s...thats it. Barkley has way more fast twitch muscle left, even though he is SEVERELY out of shape.

...Barkley is slow and was slow by every standard, its just that Bavetta is an old man. if this were a distance race Bavetta would win.

Moral of the story. No matter how great you think you are, a world-class athlete doesn't even need to train or be in any kind of healthy shape to beat the out of you.

chuck isn't nor ever was a world class athlete, but he was a world class basketball player. i think you and i may have different ideas on what an athlete is....just b/c you play NBA basketball doesn't mean you are a great athlete. perfect example is Tim Duncan, he may be a great swimmer and basketball player (the best, imo), but he isn't a great athlete. likewise, most pitchers in baseball are not great athletes either, but they are great pitchers...

there are many great athletes all over the world that aren't amazing at one skill, in American sports you are rewarded for being great at a skill set, not necessarily being a great athlete. there is a difference...
