Not a legit threat to you all anymore? Why, because Jason Terry and Josh Howard can throw up a couple of wild shots every now and then? Or because they beat SA by an average of 4 points in 2 games this season?

I am about 100% sure that your statement won't be true by the end of the playoffs.

So the spurs don't make the top spot in power rankings than it doesn't matter but once they get it you celebrate.
I know, look at all of the celebrating in this thread.

Dirk, I wouldn't go THAT far. Let's wait and see if Dallas actually eliminates the Spurs again in the playoffs. The Spurs may have another run or two in the tank. The players will actually determine the outcome, not the salivating, beer toting fans.

I have not been celebrating. I have never doubted the Spurs, unlike 99% of people here. I don't see these last 4 games as a huge accomplishment or anything, they are beating who they are supposed to beat. Next they will beat the Sonics and Velociraptors. They are just taking care of business. Dallas is a team the Spurs will beat in 6 games in the playoffs. Phoenix the same thing. Utah would be a 5-game series.

I think sometimes that jeffdrums thinks the Spurs will be able to eliminate the Rockets or Lakers in 2 or 3 games, max.

What is it with people and Houston/LA over the Spurs this year? I just don't see it, and you all are getting carried away with the fact that the Spurs are struggling this year. Struggling does not equal complete failure.

It's reasonable to think Dallas could beat SA this year (altho its unlikely, SA in 6 this year), but not Houston (McGrady and Yao Ming have never won a playoff series! Spurs beat Bonzi last year) and LA (First 6-game losing streak in Phil Jackson's coaching career).

You have rebounding issues still and we got over the hump against you guys last year. I hope you don't get eliminated in round 1 because I want to be the team to sweep the Spurs this year.
I thought mav fans don't like to live in the past? Beating us last year doesn't exactly mean you guys will beat us again this year.

I think Dallas would be VERY tough for the Spurs, but I think the Spurs can beat Phoenix in the playoffs. The Spurs sort of remind me of the 2001 Lakers. I was SOOOOO sure, as were many national beat writers, that the Spurs would beat the Lakers in the 2001 WCF. I vividly recall Mark Stein or whatever his name is from ESPN.com saying AFTER the Spurs got whipped in Game 1, that the Spurs would STILL win in 6.

No, this Spurs team does not mirror that Lakers team, but they do have a striking similarity in that they had rich playoff and championship experience. They slumbered through the regular season and when the playoffs came around and the pace of the games slowed down, championship instincts took over.

The thing Dallas has going for them is that they have actually eliminated the Spurs in the playoffs...but Phoenix has yet to do so. I'm resonding primarily to the take that Phoenix will beat the Spurs. They won't. Dallas is another story.

I'm watching Dallas right now, and I see the same team I saw in the NBA Finals. This time their jump shots are falling. In the Finals, nope.

Well, we can throw it out because the Spurs "weren't playing well" at the time, right?
I'm not even saying it's a valid claim in the first place. Every game counts. I'm just saying your analogy is absolutely terrible and completely misses the point. It sailed right over your head.

Watch Dallas closely and you will see it's all jump shots and Dirk making his usual fade away shooting over his head! No points in the paint!

Don't give him that much credit, Dirk isn't old enough to drink.

The Spurs dominate the Suns like fat kids all over America dominate Krispy Kreme. You a fool if you think the Suns have a chance of standing in our way. The West will once again come down to San Antonio and Dallas.
