The Warriors have done this with Al Harrington playing like pure on offense
I was hoping to see that tonight. The whole team is playing way too soft and not being physical enough with them. Make them pay at the rim.
I thought the Warriors were stupid for leaving their starters in for as long as they did just for this reason.
The Warriors have done this with Al Harrington playing like pure on offense
That's what I was thinking during the 2nd half ; Nelly has to give his starters lots of minutes if they want to beat Dallas, but they could tired too quickly in this series, and Dallas has a bench, so...
The Mavs better figure something out and fast.
If not for that little whistle fest in Game 2 and the Warriors going nuts, they are in the same boat as Miami.
At the dock, all packed, ready to get on the boat to go fishing.
Arent they the youngest team in the league?
Fatigue wont be a problem in this series.
I am not sure about that Mavs fan!!

A long summer ahead for Spurs coach Glenn Rogers, NBA Coach Larry Brown says he isn't surprised by what happened to his Spurs in the playoffs.
Says he could see it coming.
Looking back just a few days, one has to agree that he did see it and fully understood what was going to happen.
Remember, Brown wasn't a joyous coach when the Spurs romped past the Warriors, 130-121, in Game 1. While Spur fans rejoiced and clamored, Brown warned, "We're not going to win this series with Willie (Anderson) scoring 38 points and Rod (Strickland) scoring 30."
He was right. Those two failed to make another serious impact and the Spurs' usual game of running, passing and dashing off turnovers disappeared under the weight of the fleet, but methodical, Warriors.
"What I meant when I said that was we couldn't win with so many jumpers," Brown said during his flight back to San Antonio and summer-long thoughts of his quick exit. "We're not a jump-shooting team. We didn't run our passing game in the first game and that's what worried me." Sleepless nights Brown looked drawn from the harrowing experiences in Oakland and admitted he had had little or no sleep the past few days.
"That was such a long wait (between Game 3 and Game 4)," he said. "I didn't think it would ever begin. I got absolutely no sleep the night before. I read and waited."
The coach said his major disappointment if not shock came in Game 2.
"We just didn't play, we acted as though it wasn't a big game. And that's where we lost the series."
The lost series was a serious setback for Brown. Don Nelson's arm was raised in victory after the series duel and Brown's reputation thus tarnished.
Plus, Brown had bargained on ever-increasing progess here. "I don't want to coach a team that always loses early in the playoffs," he has said time and again.
The coach bases his ultimate game strategy around the center and point guard and he thought he had a near dream duo in Rod Strickland and David Robinson.
That dream turned nightmarish as neither of the two performed at playoff level.
The coach had some choice words on the subject:
"David didn't dominate against a smaller lineup. He certainly can't take the summer off.
"There are definitely things in his game he has to work on and this series showed it. He has to improve on helping on defense, on his post moves, on his post passing.
"He can't say things like, 'we didn't come to play.' Those statements coming during a playoff series amaze me."
And Strickland?
"He has to assume more responsibility at the point," Brown said. "I don't know if he is capable to handle the position alone or not.
"We might have to get some help for him, somebody to play alongside him. I think Willie will improve, if he gets better at ballhandling he can help Rodney."
Brown said full evaluation of the team will be held sometime next week when he, team owner Red McCombs and Vice President Bob Bass sit down and focus on the gloomy season end.
"Now's not the time to do it," Brown said. "We had a good season, winning 55 games despite a lot of adversity. We felt pretty good about that. Now we're down because of this loss.
"Obviously we have some weaknesses. We have to get a shooter in here. We do have some help coming in rookies Sean (Higgins), Tony (Massenburg) and Dwayne (Schintzius). But we'll look at the whole thing next week."
Last year a miracle year according to Brown ended in Portland and management saying the starting five were untouchable. This direct statement hasn't passed any lips to date.
Terry mings and Brown didn't see eye-to-eye this year, the former growling about the offense shifting away from him, the latter snarling about the former's shot selection.
"I don't think there's any basic problem between Terry and me," Brown said. "We both have to figure out how to make this team win.
"I think Terry had a tough year. He was hurt and he didn't seem nearly as athletic as last year. As far as fitting into our system, he had a career year with us the first year." Possible moves Trades are likely. A stout look at the unrestricted free agent list is in order.
Players waiting to hear offers include guards John Paxson, John Battle and Jim Les. These guys can hit some shots. Paxson could surely help Strickland.
Big men Mike Brown, Greg Kite and Eddie Lee Wilkins could help reinforce the reserves.
Who is unlikely to return next year?
David Greenwood probably has seen his last year in a Spurs uniform. Sidney Green most likely again will be offered around the league.
Looking back, McCombs probably closed his wallet a tad too soon last season. A concerted effort to bag Rick Mahorn might have brought the energizer the Spurs so clearly lack.
The team could entertain thoughts of trading one or two of the starting five not including Robinson or Elliott for a player and a first-round draft pick.
Tinkering, perhaps a major gauging, is in order.
And Brown? Is he tempted to move on or dig in for another joust with the Spurs?
"The bad ending to the season doesn't stop me from wanting to get better," he said. "It motivates me and I hope it motivates the players.
"We played inconsistent all year and it finally really hurt us. We never really got a lot of games with the starting five.
"We had better chemistry last season. It's tough to figure why it changed so much, whether or not it's a lack of character.
"But these are the things we'll discuss and we've got the summer to do something about it."![]()
Well, if you consider that the Warriors are 5-1 this season against the Mavs it seem VERY unlikely that the Mavs are going to win the next 3 of 4. I think the Warriors are one of the few teams that is athletic enough to switch the picknroll with Dirk and still having a defender on him that is doing a pretty good job. I would not be surprised if the series goes to 7 but if that happens the Mavs have the better chances.
To be honest, I still think Mavs has a decent chance, but ... I love to see them in trouble![]()
I still think Mavs will wins the serie. If they win game 4, they will be fine : tied 2-2 with HCA.
And Spurs' fans shouldn't be too y : if Spurs lose today at Denver, they will be in the same situation than Mavs.
Some of you guys need to check the Warrriors' home record this year. AJ ed up by not using the GS game as his dress rehearsal. Two of the next three games are in Oakland. Doesn't look good for the Mavs.
Only if he doesn't call Game 3 of SA-DEN tonight. Remarkably, Eddie F. Rush hasn't worked a game since Monday.
I can't imagine that he won't call one of today's (Saturday's) games and it won't be DET-ORL.
People usually get what they deserve.
Come on Mavs suck it up and win. I want a rematch of last year! Just like we wanted to go through the Lakers to get our le; we want revenge on the Mavs. I'll be pissed if Golden State gets our revenge.
oh people expecting the great overated aj to to figure things out
do not be to dissapointed he will not
Win or lose if GS takes them to 7 games other coaches will be watching why! Mavs can be exposed by quick drives to basket and attacking; and if Manu is healthy and Tim I have said all year Spurs beat Mavs (if both get there) in at most 6 this time around with Finley coming around now this is almost assured! Mavs = over-rated (for a team to have 67 wins and to have a point differential about the same or less than Spurs this year is sublime).
I think the Warriors take it if they keep their composure. Nelly is an awesome coach. He started small. The mavs played their game in game 2. Game 3 Nelly went smaller and beat them again. The mavs look scared. You get into their heads and it affects them in every way. 4 techs signaled that. Maybe if the refs throw out more Warrior players the mavs could win more games. That seems to be the only way mavs pull out game lately.
While I think Dallas can still win, I hardly think being on course for a seven game series in round one against an eight seed is "fine".
Thats the thing that pisses me off about that guy! He plays like freakin Jordan against SA not missing hardly crap. Then he goes off against other teams and turns into a big wuss!!!!![]()
I just don't agree. I agree with someone else here who posted talking about how this series was so reminiscent of the 04 Finals between LA and Det. If Dallas were only losing by a few buckets I would be optimistic. GS is completly dominating them to this point. If it weren't for Davis blowing up in game 2 they could very well be down 3-0 right now. There is no cure for Dirk playing like a big wuss. We need Duncan to cme through in game 2 and he came through for us. For some reason Dirk can't seem to do that. (well only against us anyway)
Thats the same thing I said last year when we were playing Dallas. Yeah there is no way those off-balance shots Dirk keeps hoisting up there will continue to fall. Damned if they didn't!!!
There's only been two take aways in this series so far through three games:
1. GS has no fear of Dallas and feels they can beat them (and knows it)
2. The only game Dallas won so far they had to have two of GS's four best players ejected to do it.
And I don't think either of those facts are lost on either team.
Since when are layups lucky shots? GS had 60 points in the paint last night.
Think how bad it would have been if GS didn't go 5-23 from three last night.
[QUOTE=kris]
Mavs didn't get to the finals by accident last year and their not going to let a crazy 8th seed just steal what they believe to be their championship year.
[QUOTE]
I dont know where people get the idea that teams "wont" let other teams do something...the only way another team attempts to not let another team do something is play defense...and judging from the first three games the ol mavy poos are in some serious ..
Pack up the tackle box, Mark. You're going to be fishin' with the Chuckster

I don't think you're reaching when you say game 4 will decide it.
GS wins it, and regardless what happens in game 5 they are coming back to an amped up arena for game 6 where the fans will probably blow the roof off the place.
AJ ed up by not playing his starters in the last GS game of the regular season. If Dallas had won that game they'd be up 3-0 on the Clippers right now.
