WTF do you think Tim is going to say? Dumb as reporter asking a dumb as question. How about ask a ing basketball question.
Again, I'm not saying you have to agree with her, but is she a dumbass for asking the question or does she have some hidden agenda for asking it? No.

Again...the lesson taught to journalists is:
Never Assume.
The only time it's "accepted" is when it's widely recognized as fact. IE: Is water wet?
Just think about it: What if, for some crazy, one-millionth of a percent chance, Tim said he thought the league was wrong or that he thought the win might be tainted. And what if that question had never been asked?
She didn't ask him if he wore green socks. She asked him a basketball question.
I'm sorry. I lost you.
I think we agree that journalists have a responsibility to go out and get stories.
And I understand that is not an easy job.
Where I feel we differ is that you seem to be implying that by virtue of my not liking a story or even reporter ( and for the record that is not at all the case with Mic e) and saying so makes me an illiterate ingrate.
after the game she of course sings the same old song and asked Tim Duncan about how the suspension of Amare and Diaw may have changed the series it seemed to me like she was trying to get a rise out of Timmy and of course to no avail Timmy answered something along the lines of "I had no control over that that was the NBA and its all over now it's done" Tafoya replied sarcastically with "ok fair enough" and could Mike Breen sound anymore disappointed after the game good thing I saw the game on FSN with Sean Elliot it's a shame it will be the last game with Sean commentating this season now I will have to put up with ESPN's half ass ed commentating. Maybe I to much maybe I should be more happy because the spurs are going the the west finals but I have nothing else better to do than but then again Craig Sager was pretty bad when he Interviewed Finley about the Horry foul
Johnny
We are reading and replying with unfortunate timing.
Truce?
Well, I'm sorry if you get that implication from what I'm saying.
I'm trying to state what we are taught to question (namely, everything) and why we ask what we do.
Fine, you think it wasn't the proper forum, I think it was. That doesn't mean I'm saying you're an illiterate ingrate.
Asking him if the win was tainted is not a basketball question. It was disrespectful. How about ask about emotions carrying on to the next series; the short turnaround between game 6 and the WCF? Matchups? How tough of a series, etc... not "Is this series tainted?" ... even asking how he felt about amare being forced to sit wouldn't have been that bad... but the whole tainted phrase is disrespectful and bush league.
the only good thing about ESPN is Rachel Nichols.. and that ain't sayin much
red on the head...
do the drapes match the carpet?![]()
it's why I hate ABC/ESPN...everyone that works for them sucks. Nothing quite compares to TNT's coverage
does it really in matter, has she hit the tanning salon yet?
Gray is the worst by light years. I'd go with Tafoya to place and Seger to show.
I understand.
I share in the blame since I repeatedly, though not intentionally, misunderstood your posts.
LOL....dont get me started on Boxing....
Larry Merchant is the biggest idiot of all time IMO.
But if my choices are between Gray, Tafoya or Sager I'd have to go with Gray. His overall demeanor suggests that he loves to start .
Also I am disappointed in myself because I apparently did not do a good job of getting my point across.
I have no strong feelings one way or the other about Mic e's question. I just feel like people should be allowed to think about the interview as they do- i.e everyone is en led to their ( right or wrong) opinion.
Agree to disagree, I guess...but I think you'd be hard-pressed to tell me that the question (and Tim's answer, whatever it may be) wasn't on the mind of most of the viewing audience.
Couldn't agree more with you on Merchant. However, he has one of my favorite quotes of all-time: ""You just can't be fat and not have to pay for it." - LM
I'm pretty sure it was the Apr. 2006 fight between W. Klitchko and Chris Byrd, LM was refering to Byrd. Classic moment.
Angel, I think you are missing the point. It's not that she asks the question, it's that she LOADS it up with opinion first. Good journalists ask unloaded questions, flat questions not loaded with the journalist's or anyone else's opinions. Good journalists keep their egos and opinions out of the way when interviewing, something Tafoya, Gray and Sager are incapable of because it's all about THEM, and about CONTROVERSY.
eg. "Tim, do you think this series has been tainted by the Horry incident?"
vs "Tim, many experts believe the series has been tainted by the Horry incident and claim that the Spurs will now not be true champions even if they win the NBA - how do you feel about that?"
If she had asked the former question I'd have no beef, but she didn't, she asked something much closer to the second question.
Dammit, ESPN have taken down the Tafoya interview or I'd show you what I mean by quoting the exact way she asks the question.
Good journalists do not have opinions! The first tenet of journalism is to be impartial!
Labelling Tafoya, Gray and Sager "journalists' is an insult to real journalism. They are gossip-mongers, no more.
Proper journalists lay out the facts, ask the right questions, and let the audience decide for themselves.
Unfortunately, journalism today is so blurred with entertainment that few people know the difference.
like i said, "that ain't sayin much"
you know you would
