It doesn't seem like he's dying to get away from here. He just wants to win. It's like he's warning the Spurs to sustain the winning or some championship hopes at least. Don't blame him at all for thinking like this.

I wouldn't blame Tony for doing that. By that time it might be time to start rebuilding anyways. Let's enjoy the team that we have right now. I don't know about Tim but I can see him staying a few more years and I was reading something from Manu and he said that originally he was going to retire when his contract was up but now he feels like he can play for a couple more years after that so we'll see.

I wonder if Tony will stay if for instance Tim will retire but Manu will still continue to play...That would be a good duo to continue. I still see Manu as someone who'd play for a while longer...in all his articles, he had talked about for playing for a little while longer at least.

    You are a huge dumbass.

A reporter asked him a question about what he will do when his contract is up and he answered it by saying that if Tim/Manu etc are gone and it's not possible to win that he'll consider looking around.

He doesn't say he'll leave and doesn't show any disloyalty.

    You are very dumb.
And you're a huge sometimes ... So sorry that I don't suite your idea of what a fan should think, but notice Duncan and Manu didn't go off in free agency. I've wanted Parker to be our continued franchise player after Duncan left, but if he's going to jump ship because we get weak for a few years - that's terrible after the team and organization helped him win some rings. Help the team get back on it's feet after someone like Duncan leaves, and if we can't draft another for a few years ...

But oh wait, he should go off because we get weak for a few years? I understand he wants to win, but I think he should have some loyalty to the city and team.

He should have more loyalty than Tim or Pop?

    Umm ... neither has Parker.

. I've wanted Parker to be our continued franchise player after Duncan left, but if he's going to jump ship because we get weak for a few years -.
Where did he say he was going to jump ship?

That's what you aren't getting. He says he would CONSIDER looking around when prompted by a reporter - nothing more than that.

Alright fine, he's considering it ... Sorry, but with 4 years left, should he be concerned? IMO, no ... the fact he's talking about already considering it kinda irks me ... But hey, that's me.

I don't think he's concerned or even sitting around considering it now. He is saying he would consider it (in the future). He was answering a reporter's question. He didn't call a press confence to announce he was thinking about perhaps considering it or anything.

    man, he's just being honest.

Would you rather him say "I'm a Spur for life!" for 4 years, and then leave?

, I can't think of any player who refused to look at his options. Not David Robinson (who was not a lock to SA). Not Tim Duncan (who was looking at Orlando).

    Can you?

i have NO DOUBT that parker leaves once Duncan is retired.

Parker came to S.A. and since he got rings right off the bat, he stays. It is obvious he craves the public eye and his attention ______ wife will carry him off to Cali ASAP.

Wide the wave until TD retires, then waive goodbye.

Another recent article about Tony's future plans:

Parker, who was voted the NBA's most valuable player earlier this month after the Spurs won their fourth le in nine seasons, wanted to talk about basketball.

"I think that this is just the beginning," he said. "I still have a long way to go because my idol is Michael Jordan and he won six les so I'm only halfway there."

Looking long-term, Parker said he would base his decisions on fellow players Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and coach Gregg Popovic. Parker is signed with the Spurs through 2009.

"My decisions about the future and where I am going to play and if I'm going to stay in San Antonio will depend on how long Duncan wants to play, Ginobili and Popovic."

So Tony is also taking into consideration Pop as well as Manu/Tim.

He's probably sick of being called boring and being held back by playing in San Antonio as well (see his ridiculous "Yankees" comment).

I bet a trio of Amare, Barbosa and Parker would be nice.
...and all you can ever do is hope ...

An inaccurate article. Tony is signed thru 2011.
