James white would have done nothing this year for the spurs. I do not believe he would have gotten much better in another or year or more (he can slam a b-ball, that is it). Spurs FO must believe williams up-side is much greater than white's to do move like this. As mentioned this will open a forward spot for udoka. Not sure how this would effect Ian for next season?

I think Mike Bud is next in line.
I would pay for Mike Bud to get ejected. I don't think I've ever seen him mad in his 17 years with the Spurs.

I haven't heard alot of consideration of this possibility, but I think it's entirely possible that the Spurs don't carry 15 on their roster. We had fewer than this in season's past and people have just been assuming that with White we'd hit 15 since the spots are so tough to get, but at this point MAYBE we sign a swing like Udoka and then have Williams and MAYBE Watson inactive. It really wouldn't shock me to have 13 or 14 on the roster.

Maybe White was part of the point shaving scandal in the SL.

Spurs don't need to waive White to sign Udoka. They have plenty of opportunity to get rid of him during the season and it not count toward the luxury tax. I think they picked Williams over White as the young guy to keep around.

    Fixed.
White contract would have been $200K if he wasn't waived before October 1st.
It would have cost $200K (+ the luxury tax) to evaluate White during the training camp.

Exactly. That's nothing. The Spurs have paid scrubs like James Thomas guaranteed money to come to camp.

Signing Udoka would make the waiving of White make more sense. But if the Spurs are waiving White just to pinch pennies, that's pretty risk. If (*knock on wood*) one of the swingmen were to get injured during training camp, are there other options out there for the minimum better and more prepared to play for the Spurs than James White?

    Doubt it.

Scola, Butler and White -- San Antonio just gave away another 5 les. They were to be the next generation Dynasty after Duncan.

    Discuss.

Really? Those guys were all franchise players in the making, blue-chippers, if you will. I thought you guys were gonna make a run at the Celtics and Lakers with that crew.

It seems we have have an absolute ton of open roster spots compared to a short while ago. Hopefully that means that we can ink some cheap players with upside. What about a guy like Rich Melzer to fill our roster out with? I'd love to bring Linton Johnson III back in and give him an actual opportunity to play. How about another PG

I'm glad to see that Nash, Nowitzki, Finley and Jamison worked out for you. The same with Nowitzki, Terry, Howard and Harris.

I must have lost count, how many rings are you on now?

Well, seeing as how Scola, Butler and White >>>>> Nash, Nowitzki, Finley and Jamison, can you blame us for having none?

Hey Findog has every right to talk . His team won 67 games, won the division, and unlike the Spurs lost/choked in the finals.
