Mike Brown, Avery Johnson or Mike D'antoni
well I want Mike Brown and you want mike brown
so we both want on of the coaches
I wanted to know if people would want to trade tp and get younger stars to rebuild with or stike with tp
I do not think anyone got owned
Mike Brown, Avery Johnson or Mike D'antoni
Stick with TP. Hopefully he'll want to stay though.
?
I'm all for Nate McMillan as mentioned before - what he has done with Seattle and Portland has been very impressive - and he is quite a similar mould to Pop - hard nosed, no nonsense, defensive coach - he'd be a good seamless transition.
Oh, no.
I'd take Mike Martz before I'd take Mike D'Antoni.
I'd like to see Bowen groomed for the job (assuming Pop stays around long enough for Bruce to spend a few years as his assistant before passing the torch).
If Avery coaches the Spurs, I am becoming a fan of some other team.
Phil Jackson with the Spurs???!!

Well, D'antoni is obviously a coach who loves the fast break, and with TIM and Pop gone i don't think anyone is going to hold them back. TP would like to push the break and so would Manu. I think we will need a new style of play when Pop and Tim are gone and well...there you go.
Manu will be 35 when Duncan is gone, the only thing he'll be pushing is his walker to the hair regrowth clinic
Pop's replacement is starting his Spurs training this year. He's Quinn Snyder the new coach of our Austin NBDL team. He's a lifelong friend of RC's and thinks along the same wavelength as Pop and RC.
no to AJ coaching the Spurs.
Did you just say Tim and Pop are holding the Spurs back?
AJ would be a nice choice after Pop leaves. Only 3 coaches have beaten Tim Duncan in the postseason: Jerry Sloan, Phil Jackson, and Avery Johnson. Of those, AJ was the only coach with less than two future HOFers on his team.
Assuming that Pop retires at the same time that TD does, the Spurs will not be the attractive coaching destination they are today. Sure, money talks, but would the Spurs want to invest that much in a coach when they don't have the talent to be serious contenders?
Unless someone picks him up to be their head coach before Pop leaves, I think the heir apparent is Mike Budenholzer. Mike Bud is Pop's protege, moreso than any other who has served on Pop's coaching staff. After PJ left to whom did Pop turn to be his lead assistant? That's right.
AJ would be a great fit and SA would love him. But with his coaching resume should Dallas run him off I think he wouldn't have a problem finding another job in the league. The timing would have to be right for AJ to take the reigns after Pop.
Mike Bud is under the radar, a guy who hasn't played in the NBA and clawed his way into the NBA as a coach. In many ways his career is reminiscent of Pop's and I think Pop would like to get his favorite assistant into a head coaching gig before he leaves the game.
If Pop and TD leave the game in 5 years, Mike Bud will be approximately 41 years old. Assuming the Spurs go the rebuilding route with a younger team and spending a few years in the lottery then they will need a coach who is accustomed to teaching and developing players, as well as one who is well versed defensively and one whom the organization can trust. Having a young coach who won't command a hefty paycheck would be an added attraction. A lot can happen in the next year, let alone the next 5, but I think Budenholzer makes the most sense.
I think Vinny Del Negro shold take over!.. hes great!
Is this the same Snyder that was at Missouri?
Yes, this is the same Quinn Snyder who coached Missouri. He's one of a coach and he fits the Spurs mold. Besides, once Pop and Tim leave, many of the Spurs players left would have been coached by Quinn. I expect him to be an assistant on the Spurs bench after two years with the Toros.

hmmm....interesting. He's a good coach. He is a bit young though, isnt he? How old is he? If I remember correctly he was the youngest college coach or something like that.
Quinn Snyder is 41 years old. If pop retires 4 years from now, he would be 45, which would not make him a "young" coach. Like I said, I expect him to be a bench assistant in 2 years and move up from there. If you look at the way he has lived his life, "Spurs squeaky clean" and his coaching credentials, he's a perfect Spur fit.
Why on Earth would the Spurs go with Quinn Snyder when they already have their young coach in Mike Bud? Besides, Snyder is just biding time until the next well paying collegiate gig opens up.
Bud will turn 41 in 5 years and will have something like 15 years of NBA coaching experience, all at the side of Gregg Popovich.
Quin Synder turned out to be a underwhelming college coach who got run off from Mizzou. The D-League is not a springboard for coaches to NBA head positions. The best he could parlay that job into would be an NBA assistant spot somewhere.
Mike D' Antoni?
You got to be tin' me!
