So if Beno is worth a 2nd rounder to Minnesota, what would Scola have been worth? An Al Jefferson?
    Barry for Garnett?

Did the T'Wolves have the cap space or a trade exception? I'm in shock that the Spurs were able to get a second rounder for Beno.
I can see the dialogue right now:
    Min: Is this coach Pop?
    Pop: yes?
Min: Hi, we're the wolves and we would like to talk to you about Beno
    Pop: I'm listening
Min: Well we were thinking about Beno for a 2nd round pick
Pop: Well OK! But be aware the first 2nd round pick we can give you is in 2010!

We should pick up another guy. There are some SF types with decent potential on the waiver wire so far:

    Williams
    Marcus Slaughter
Steven "Don't call me Steve" Smith
    Devin Green
    Jeremy Richardson

    Probably more to come,
Marcus Slaughter was the first other player I thought of. I'm surprised the Heat let him go.

On an unrelated related note, it's kind of funny that Butler got cut as well...

Minny roster is full, they have to cut someone.
It will be interesting to see if Beno will be the one cut or if Minny cut someone else and want to see what Beno can do.

Don't worry dude, with all the extra poundage you've packed on eating those tacos the Minnesota winters will be a piece of cake.

... and no, I don't have one, "piece of cake" is just an expression Americans use to indicate something easy.

I guess they can wait until deals are prorated.
A situation that'd make sense is:

    -Spurs scout the D-League
-Spurs wait for prorated amount of minimum contract to get to around $300K
    -Spurs sign player from D-League
-Spurs re-assign the player to the Toros

I wonder if that'd be allowed. It'd be a nice way to steal some D-League talent and improve the Toros chance of winning. Toros winning = more fans in stadium = more money for Holt.

    Beno wasn't a scapegoat...he earned his scorn.

Half the people celebrating his departure were Beno fans his first season here...

    Dude didn't play hard.
    He didn't stay in shape.
    He was injury prone.

And then he turned cancerous on top of it all....

Does this make the Spurs offseason a successful one?

Resign Oberto, Bonner, and Vaughn...draft Tiago Splitter, a prospect center....sign Ime Udoka, a prospect SF...extend Bruce Bowen a couple years....and now we lost the deadweight of Beno Udrih, and managed to find what might be a diamond-in-the-rough replacement.

After the Scolacolypse...I'd say that's a pretty decent recovery, if nothing else. Definitely goes through most of the checklist these forums set at the start of the offseason.

    Did they waive Simien already?

I liked Chris Richard in summer league, though I confused him with Craig Smith a couple of times.

Of course this means I'll have to rearrange my fantasy team...

Anyway, does Minny really have to make a cut now? That's surprising. I wonder if there was any interest in Ryan Gomes...

Hassan Adams is out there and is extremely athletic. I can't believe he doesn't warrant a roster spot someone in the nba.

I would like to see the Spurs take a flyer on a project player, one player who interests me is Korolev, who just got cut by the Clippers, he is a former #12 pick & a long SF with potential. 6'9. 203 libs. 20 years old.

The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have traded guard Beno Udrih to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for a protected 2008 second round draft pick.

InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner hears the Wolves also received cash considerations in the deal, and that they are going to waive Udrih. Strange deal.

The 6-3 Udrih was selected by the Spurs in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft, with the 28th overall pick. In three seasons in San Antonio he appeared in 207 regular season games, averaging 5.2 points and 1.8 assists in 13.0 minutes.

    That's really weird
