Doesn't surprise me at all.
Dirk + a center = good interior defense. Dirk + Bass or another PF = ty interior defense. Let's get back to playing a traditional center please. Also, that gaping hole at starting shooting guard should be filled with Stackhouse. He was scoring and the 6th man off the bench last year, and they gave that job to JET. Neither one of those guys are good defenders, so when they are both on the court at the same time with the second unit, they are pretty much giving right back on defense what they are getting you on the other end. And if their shots are off, then they're completely useless. Plus, their jobs are the same, they are coming off the bench looking to score. It's redundant.
Put Stack at the starting two and Josh at the three or vice versa. I know they don't want Stack playing more than 25 minutes a night, so does it really matter if he is on the court for the opening tip or if he waits to come in for his minutes? It might improve his offense and I like the idea of getting him some post-ups if the defense has to account for Dirk, Josh and Devin being on the court as well. When we run into a team like Boston which has scoring options at both the two and three and there's only one Josh Howard to go around, then you can give a spot start to Devean or Eddie Jones.
I liked how "we're going to give Mo Ager a shot" turned into "well make that one half of one game".
Kind of like Parcells giving Drew Henson a shot but pulling him at halftime of his first start.
Then again, maybe Ager is about as useful as Henson.
I just want him to get a fair shake before being cast aside.
I don't really see any potential in Ager, but I thought the same thing about Beno.![]()
Who knows what goes on in closed-door practices, or what he does to prepare himself as far as watching film, etc.
Another loss tonite against the Hornets. Dang, Pedja suddenly becomes clutch playing in NO, while being an anti clutch in Sacto, LOL.
Great game by CP3.Another dissappearing act by Nowitzki.

The way the mavs are playing, they'll be lucky to win anything. So far theyve lost to 3 eastern teams, struggled to win against minnesota, almost let blazers back into the game and lost to the hornets.
They look horrible right now, defense, offense, lineups.
Optimism is about all you have right now.
Good to see you can keep it up Dirk.
This team will get it together. They are too good to keep playing this bad. EVERYONE and their Grandpa Willis knows the Mavs will get out of this slump. I am not worried. When the playoffs arrive, that is when I will really truly start to judge these guys. They have the heart of a champion but they have yet to show it. Once they do, things will fall into place!
Hot Damn. Best Mav Fan quote ever.![]()
They have yet to show it.
An understatement.
I hope they do get out of this slump, I was worried about you last year. I'd hate for you to get so down again.
And where are thein your last post?

We should really work on some kind of Mav fan to Spurs fan conversion test for the most angry of Mavs fans.
Well right now the Cowboys are helping ALOT with my patience!!![]()

The "Dirk Nowitzki" guy always has "good" quotes. Along with a million clappy hands and pink elephants.
One thing I've noticed is how Dirk and Avery are both stressing the whole teammate concept, but its making Dirk an even weaker pussy than before. At the end of this game, you had Stackhouse and Harris taking the shots....
IMO Mavs have fallen off a little this year. Dirk continues his disappearing act and now also is pass-first and Avery keeps making some very questionable moves during the game (s).
I said it before .. Devin Harris cannot defend PGs who know how to execute in the half-court. He defends Parker well because Parker tries to outquick Harris, while speed is Harris' biggest strength.
Paul put up a monstrous 33/12/9 against him tonight. The other night Mo Williams of the Bucks was owning him. Parker needs to take notes ... with Harris' speed and Diop's shot-blocking, Parker's biggest weapon, penetration and acrobatic finishes in the lane, is neutralized. Against Harris he has to go pick-and-roll and look to pass better.
I'm looking forward to Dallas v/s Utah. Harris will get bent over by Deron Williams. Also, Utah has the kind of long, quick-footed forwards that cause Dirk trouble; I'd like to see the reigning MVP work against Kirilenko or Millsap.
One thing is certain, it's not just the Warriors who are a threat to the Mavs this season.

In other words....you dont want to see the Mavs in a 7 game series because you know deep down inside that we are more than capable of beating you (and vice versa) because we proved it in 2006.
I thought Avery might have tried to steal the start-slow-and-heat-up-in-February page from Pop's playbook, but I'm beginning to have doubts.
well the mavss had a 46 in 50 run lst year...so dont get to excited they gonna go for 48 in 50 soon
Game 7, overtime.
I'd say you were _exactly_ capable of beating us, certainly not more than capable.
That series really did not prove a single thing. First because the Mavs didn't go on to win the championship, they showed they are quite beatable. And 2nd and most important....the Mavs took a comanding 3-1 lead in that series against the Spurs and they let the Spurs come all the way back and force a game 7 OT that could have gone either way. If they Mavs had blown out the Spurs in that series or really put a stamp on it, then I would be more than happy to agree with you that I wouldn't want to see the Mavs in a 7 game series.
If anything, I think losing to the Mavs in 06 will make the Spurs even more dangerous should they meet in the playoffs. I'll admit out of all the teams in the NBA, Mavs are the ones that match up the best with the Spurs. Problem is, Mavs will have to play good enough to get out of the 1st round to meet up the Spurs in the playoffs. There are way too many teams this year who can compete with the Mavs and beat them: Rockets, Jazz, Suns, and Warriors can all possibly beat the Mavs in a 7 game series.
the Mavs suck right now and don't need to worry about the Spurs. There's a lot of things that should be more pressing than a hypothetical series with San Antonio. I defended the need to stand pat all summer...I don't know what's going on right now, but I don't buy that they're just humming along in 3rd gear.
The Mavs will be just fine and make it as the top 4 team into the playoff -or atleast holding first round advantage over their 1st round foe, i have no doubt about that. While Dirk does look too passive lately, i think he just tries to pace himself more wisely this season -reg season MVP le means jack sh!t if you choke in the post season, i think that lesson is well stamped in his mind.
Has an MVP from the previous season ever became a role player in the following season?...if not, Dirk is on his way to becoming the first
