The Hawks were just beating a team they were supposed to beat, no surprises here.
I'm going to hear all the "this is the second game of the regular season" and "we started 0-4 last year" and "Josh Howard didn't play" and "you're not a real Mavs fan if you don't wave your pom-poms at all times" all that other bull for what I'm about to say, but screw it I'm gonna say it anyways.
This game tonight proved to me that the Mavericks have not learned ONE ING THING from last season.
*They got blown away by a more athletic team that likes to run.
*Their "defensive specialists" did on defense and even less on offense.
*Avery still lets Stackhouse run wild regardless of the fact that he obviously is not feeling it with his shot. If he's going to brick everything he throws up there, why the doesn't he just take him out and see what Ager's got? It can't be any worse.
*Dirk blew it in crunch time.
I have no doubt that this team will win 55+ games and make the playoffs easily. But to see them not learn ANYTHING this offseason and immediately the bed against a more athletic team right off the bat really pisses me off.
GET KOBE THE TO DALLAS RIGHT NOW CUBAN!

The Hawks where playing without both of their centers as well.
My nuts-1

yeah but he really can't say "We're trying to trade for him" right at the start of the season and piss off the guys on the team.
I think they're secretly still trying to get him, but they're hoping the Lakers get desperate and trade him away for less than what the demands are right now.
greg oden you play for the blazers not sonics
change your team name
Horford looked like a nice problem to have in the middle, though.
Ell Ohh Ell #2
For one night anyway, the West doesn't look like it's going to be so hard after all.
dude if anyone should be overreacting after the second game of the season, it would be the sons after their slaughter tonight. I watched the mavs hawks game and it was a good game (the mavs lost) but besides nowitzki choking a free throw at the end, he took it to the basket more. And it was only him and terry, your scrubby vets had a nice brickfest though.
ing dumbass. The mavs were without Howard, Dampier, and Harris for most of the game.
I'm not the least bit interested in hearing the opinions of an idiot who tries to diminish Michael Finley's contributions with the Mavericks.
Well Mavs fans should be happy that you have no pull with the team. I thought you said that you were not going to be as intrested in the season this year and that it meant close to nothing until playoff time nears and yet you are willing to knee-jerk like this so early in the season. What gives?
It was either this or porn.
Atlanta will make the playoffs and the Suns pick will go down the toilet .![]()

LOL, perhaps playoff is still a bit out of reach for these Hawks this yr, but i certainly wouldn't mind to see them finishing as no 17 on the standing.![]()
I did no such thing you prick. I just said it how it was.
Ahh I see. My Bulls are 0-2 so Phatty Girls daddy's a min!!!

I saw a lot of things in this game to be optimistic about. Yes, this team did play like GS and like GS our side players didn't do much but look at who the stars of the game were for the Mavs.
Diop - The Man is playing big minutes and staying out of foul trouble and effecting every shot in the paint.
Bass - I supposed you didn't like the D he applied on that last play? Of course your only going to look at the score, the Man is a stud and when he gets his groove (This is his first year playing real minutes) he will only improve.
JJB - only saw two PG's on the floor all game long, and them both were in Mav uniformes. Your back-up PG comes into the game after Harris got injured and shreads whatever defense was before him, but all you see is the final score?
Jones and Hassell wore a Johnson suit all game long and all you can see is the final score and box score. The man was shooting lights out, but it was not because he was getting open looks like in the GS series, he was making pressure shots with hands all over him.
For the second game in a row Dirk attacked the basket with a smaller defender on him and shot the long ball (which is why he is such a special player) his shot wasn't falling, but that was his fault as he was getting open looks. The entire Mavs team was getting open looks and missing from long range, how often does that happen.
Its one thing to be run off the floor, its another entirely to scrap to the point of winning without key players, Atlanta has improved, but their record aganist the top teams in the league held up, they were giant killers last year and are starting the same this year.
