ESPN had an interesting stat. The Mavs are scoring ~105 ppg in their wins and ~95 ppg in their losses. A discrepancy that large over so few games reinforces my belief that they are relying on made baskets rather than defense. Again, it's one of the easier things to remedy, as we know the Mavs have played capable D in the past.

Dampier is slowly working himself back in after the shoulder injury and is getting 11 mpg as opposed to his usual 25. He doesn't do certain things well, like scoring, or holding onto passes, or earning his exorbitant salary, but he's good at protecting the rim and grabbing rebounds. Having Dirk play so many minutes at the 5 is hurting our defense.

I think so, the announcers said something about it, something about how he doesn't have full range of motion when he tries to lift his arms. Typical Dampier, his conditioning is not what it should be after a long layoff.
