Sublime - Lakers got more scoring (so what) but regressed defensively, and in the playoffs defense wins.

Spurs picked up exactly what they needed in K. Thomas, and D. Stoudamire. The road to le goes through champs and by the way they also add Tiago Splitter next year (a heck of lot better defender than the soft Gasol).

Rockets also far more dangerous in playoffs than the LAL as are Jazz. Jazz and Rockets as playing right now would both take LAL and Spurs beat them all in no more than 6.

We don't even have to discuss the Mavs anymore = Kidd improves them against weak teams but will get wasted by Paul, Parker, Iverson, and Davis and then they gave up a fine defensive big in Diop. Don't be fooled by the assist Queen of Kidd, he cannot hit an open shot, and in the playoffs Spurs, Jazz and others will just pack it in against Mavs and watch their shooters choke. Letting go Harris big time dumb long-term.
Well I guess I'm fooled. Kidd looks incredible.

What about the Spurs = Parker, Manu and Duncan all missed sign. time - no excuses for your soft team!
Well, since we traded away Oscar Robertson to New Jersey, we have no hope of holding Parker below 80.

Mavs are getting lots more points in the paint with Kidd, even Dampier looks like a scorer. What part of "easy baskets" is hard to understand? No more contested jumpers from 18 feet.

The only thing holding us back is another big for whenever Dampier gets into foul trouble. If we sign Mags as expected, we're up there with anybody. All we need is 15-20 minutes and 6 fouls per game. He can still rebound.

Nobody ever brings up that ty series he had against Houston three years ago. He was far worse in that series than he was against Miami or Golden State, but nobody remembers it because Dallas won. Just like nobody remembers that tough runner he hit over Shaq in overtime of Game Five against Miami, or that 29 points and 15 rebounds he had in Game Six when the Heat won the le. Dirk was clutch in the last two games of the Finals, but he's a choker. He put San Antonio and Phoenix away with clutch play, but he's a choker. His teams are 5-0 in Game Sevens, he came up big in four of those games, but he's a choker.

If I'm not allowed to gloss over his play against Golden State, you can't ignore the times he's come up huge.
Even in the Houston and Phoenix series a couple years ago, even though he didnt shoot the ball well, he still found other ways to be effective, by still driving, getting to the line, and drawing fouls on Yao. He also kicked both team's ass on the boards, and had a lot of hustle plays. Even though he didn't shoot well in those playoffs, i felt that Dirk has shown that he has risen his game to another level, because he began to find more ways to contribute than just scoring, especially when their shot is off, which is what great players do.

IMO, when you truly look at the entire picture, Dirk over the past 3-4 years has accomplished quite a bit considering all he did without a legit star alongside him. He has just had a team full of role players, but not another true star to take some heat off of him, like every other great player has (Shaq/Kobe, Duncan/Robinson/Ginobili, MJ/Pippen, Bird/Parish, Magic/Kareem, etc...)

Now that he finally has a legit star alongside him, let's see how he does. Hopefully he didn't get this star to play with too late... but I have always wondered what he would have done if he could have played alongside someone like Kobe, Shaq, Pippen, etc...

The criticism he recieves is truly unfair. Kobe struggles to get a team of role players into the playoffs and is called the best player in the league and a great leader, etc... while Dirk leads a team of role players to the finals, and to top 4 seeds on a yearly basis, yet people say he can't lead a team. Granted, Dirk's role players have been better than Kobe's, but if Kobe truly is the best player in the NBA and such a great ing leader, he should be able to have led his team into the playoffs a little easier and be able to help improve the play of his teammates as well, much like Dirk has been able to.

On the contrary, he hits open shots pretty well. His low percentages often was contributed to the fact that he always had such ty teams and many times would have the ball thrown to him with a couple seconds left on the clock, forcing him to throw up a low percentage shot.

Before all these teams play eachother how do you think these elite teams each team would stack up against eachother. These are my rankings. What are yours?

    The Teams:
1)Lakers - I see the Lakers beating each team below
2)Spurs - I see the Spurs beating each team below
3)Pistons - The team to beat in the East
5)Celtics - I'd love to see a Lakers Celtics finals, but Detroit may spoil
4)Mavs - Once Kidd gets use to the team I think they will be compe ive
6)Cavs - 2nd best trade after the Gasol trade
7)Hornets - No experience to go far in the playoffs
    8) Rockets - McGrady can't carry a team
    9)Suns - Bad move,

    Click on link below
I'll just rank the top 2, not sure about the rest but

    1. Los Angeles Lakers
    2. San Antonio Spurs

The Lakers have all the pieces in place to make a serious run at the championship this year.

After hearing all the trash talk from Laker fans, I'm looking forward to seeing them lose. Kobe will start crying on the bench again.

Spurs are the champs until someone beats them and Manu is playing amzing ball kudos ...
But why spur fans is THIS team with age and injuries gonna repeat and the other could not?
Look im a Laker fan obviously ...but i think the Lakers chances are just a bit smaller than the Spurs ...i say spurs have a 25% chance Lakers 20 but can rise if BYNUM regains form ...

I think the Lakers have every right to be feeling good about their team right now.

I live in LA and I am a huge SA fan, and trust me I have always hated on Sasha and Luke more than anyone else in the league. But Luke came into his own last year, and Sasha (I hate to say it) is fitting into his role perfectly (even though he still looks like a little even with his new lame hair-doo). Not to mention Farmar is way legit.

The Lakers are a good 10 players deep and have a 2nd Team that can hang with most teams in the league (they were their starters the past couple years). Now with Gasol thriving in the system, Bynum becoming a beast, and the bench players finally showing the result of Phil Jacksons tutilige they are not to be written off.

I love my Spurs, but being able to watch most of the Lakers games due to being in LA, our main threat is most definitely the Lakers. Not to mention the cold-blooded rivalry that exists between the Spurs and Lakers ( you Fisher).

That being said, the Spurs will compete with any team in a 7 game series. When it comes down to playing THE game of basketball, and not thinking about theories or looking at matchups, they know how to play and win important basketball games. They have the defense and veteran mentality to win a series and I hope it comes down to the Jackson Vs. Popovich WCF to write the last chapter in Lakers Vs. Spurs.

THe Mavs will not beat the Lakers ... ill say it right now. THE ONLY team i fear in the post-season are the defending champs ...the MAVS had their chance but they gave it away to the team that has the worst record in the league right now only 1.5 years later ...and followed that collosal choke by getting whupped by a GState team that were handled easily by the Jazz ...I acually like Terry, Dirk and howard and kidd especially ... but i have no faith Dallas will win moe than one series if that ...and i have no fear of dallas ..we win in a series vs. Mavs no doubt!!
Lakers make west conf. finals at least thi year...NBA le in '09 ...

PS If we win this year ...then yall might as well stay home the next 3 years!!!!
