    Not true, at all.

I paid more taxes this year.
And, that's that I had a kid and had a tax credit for her!!!
Then, either your income went up or you don't know how to file your taxes.

    Such as??

And, how were the people that wrote the Cons ution over 200 years ago supposed to foresee what needs the country/states have in the future?
They were never supposed to contemplate the personal needs of people. That's the job of the people.

    Provide some proof please.

There are stories all the time here in San Antonio about people who have to wait over 10 hours and sometimes upto or over a day to get somekind of service.

In my hometown, it was even worse.
There are people in the UK and Canada that have to wait months for life-saving procedures.

    Yea, I'm sure that's it.

I said the needs of the Country or the state as a whole.

    Again, proof?

I'm still waiting for proof on your previous statements.

    Yea, I'm sure that's it.
It's that or you're a liar. And, I didn't want to accuse you of lying. If you're paying more in taxes today than 2000, it's because your income went up or your an incompetent filer. So, which is it?

    Personal needs?
I said the needs of the Country or the state as a whole.
A country can go broke doing things people should do for themselves and each other.

I, and most Americans, are paying less in taxes (as a percentage of our income) than we were in 2000.

Your paying more for gas(includes gas taxes) and other items . So what the is the difference, your going to pay one way or another. You vote for someone because you think you will have more money? What ever you think you may save in taxes you pay with higher energy costs. The republicans are all for big business oil profits so you pay anyways.

I've saved more in taxes over the past 8 years than I've had to spend on increased consumer prices.

    Can't help that your inefficient.

McCain repeatedly made the same factual error about Shiite Iran helping Sunni Al Quaida. Sorta late in the terrorism game to be making mistakes about the big picture. We already have dubya as a big picture man who didn't bother with details (because he was too stupid) and delegated to criminal incompetents. McCain is panning out to be, like Reagan, mentally weak and confused, due to age or whatever else, with none of Reagan's or Obama's communications skillls.

otoh, Obama speaks the truth about everyday, pervasive profiling by common people towards the groups, many of them threatening, and he gets "gotcha'd" by the right wing attack dogs.

The "socialism" card is so ing over-wrought and knee-jerk, but crony, criminal, unregulated corporatism and capitalism gets a free pass.

First of all, gasoline taxes haven't been raised and second, if you want cheaper gas, allow the oil companies to explore domestically (read ANWR and Gulf of Mexico), build more refinery capacity; then, allow private enterprise to build nuclear power plants.

You also have to quit penalizing the big oil while, at the same time, insisting they develop alternative fuel technologies.

In short, tell your envirowhacko buddies to quit impeding progress...and, while your at it, disband the global climate change religion.

The GOP is desperately trying to hold on to the last vestiges of ignorance it has over the American electorate. It will soon come to pass that their whole ideology will become obsolete.

What's ignorant is that people believe the oil companies have anything to do with the current price increases in gasoline.

scott explained this once before and he does a much better job than anyone on this board, but oil is a commodity and price is set, by the market, based on supply and demand...not by "big oil companies." Nobody whined for Exxon back when they were taking comparable losses in the 80's.

Other factors include refining capacity (pretty much unchanged in America over the past 3 decades) and market instability due to henny-pennies such at you Doc.

Gasoline would be cheaper if domestic oil fields went back into production and the huge reserves in Alaska and the Gulf were accesssed. Gasoline would be cheaper if we had enough refining capacity to meet the demand. Gasoline would be cheaper if alternatives, such as nuclear power, were allowed to come on line instead of being thwarted by the envirowhackos.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot; gasoline would be cheaper if not for the federally-manded boutique fuels required by the EPA in various areas of the country.

But, this discussion started because an idiot thought the government was making up for real tax cuts -- leading to a lower real effective tax rate for everyone -- by jacking up fuel prices.

I think the unwillingness of the American government to invest real money, that would make any real strides in developing alternative technologies in the late 1970's has brought us to this consequence. We are behind after having missed numerous opportunities to do so, not to mention, the amount of time lost since that initial non-investment. The solution is not just in fossil fuels, and not as simplistic as bio-fuels. It's all related to big oils resistance to anything but oil and natural gas.

"their platform sucks and will mean higher taxes for all of us"

... skating right past the mind-boggling debt created by dubya's bogus war, and tax cuts for the super-rich and corps.

I read an article that said dubya's debt obligations will completely tie the hands of whoever wins in November.

You sing the same old warped, tired song in spite of enlightened information to the contrary. You are showing just how flawed GOP thinking is by holding steadfast to ignorance and arcane thought processes against your minds desire to be more prudent. Your struggle is futile, because you wage a war against your own humanity.

You will continue to do something akin to this:

At least you had a picture to look at, but I thought he

He did not correct himself, Lieberman corrected him. That's a whole lot of maybe this and maybe that in your response. It is apparent you missed a significant part, in spite of a visual.
