RIP, I hope Michael Moore isnt too far behind.
Seeing as hes lied, and manipulated information in his movies hes nothing but a fat fictional movie maker who thinks hes making do entaries. As for Michael Moore ... I wouldn't take his work too seriously
CF is starting to seem like more and more of a typical lesbian i n every single post.
By the way, how come when ANYone else dies and someone makes fun of it they are automatically labeled assholes, but when a dude like this dies, everyone jumps in with typical like this.
I also think it's sort of funny that all the "facts" about this dude's personality are based around what Micheal Moore told you to believe about him.
Good point, everything else he has done in his life (MLK, etc) is dismissed but what Michael Moore says is gospel.
I'm not taking sides one way or another, but everyone?
I really don't see a wide margin here between people bashing Heston and those paying respects for him or acknowledging their agreement with his relatively recent views on gun control or his work with the Civil Rights movement.
So, he's taken lessons from Karl Rove?
Actually nothing MM says has anything to do with it. MM showed footage of him saying those things. If you don't want to be labeled a racist, it's probably better not to say things about the US having more crime caused by the mixing of the races. It's actually pretty revolting coming from someone Jewish. His shtick sounds like it would have fit right in with Der Fuhrer's propaganda campaign. Zer vill be NO mixing of ze races!!!
That's his opinion, he walked the walk before civil rights was even in the limelight. Unlike MM who pits poor vs rich, repub vs demo, or anti-war vs pro-war.
Is there anyone on here that has NEVER once uttered or thought of a bigoted comment towards another race?
Until this post right now, I haven't even mentioned Michael Moore's name in this thread. And my opinion is based only on Heston's own statements, which are shown in context, in an interview. I'll be the first to admit that, even though I agree with a lot of his points and have liked several of his films, I have a lot of problems with Moore as a filmmaker and as a personality. However, the particular clip that I linked to is not a situation of information being twisted or manipulated. Heston is asked a question, gives an incredibly inappropriate answer, and spends the next several moments clearly flustered and aware of the fact he ed up. It's all right there with no cuts or edits.
I wasnt referring to you. And like I said I'm pretty sure everyone on here has at one point in their lives said or thought something bigoted. To condemn them for it forever is stupid in light of everything he has done in support of blacks. Can I say blacks or is it African American?
Does any of this somehow NOT make Heston a racist, or is it just a conversational diversion?
I think in their hearts, many people are racist. I also think many people are selfish, covetous of their neighbor's wife or goods, or otherwise sinful. Doesn't make it right or acceptable. I also think that part of the struggle to be a better human being is to resist those urges in yourself, and not accept them from others who voice them overtly.
