Don't be so naive. This is all PR by Kawhi and his group to look better. They are plenty of old clips of Kawhi smiling and doing these type of events when he was in SA.

Yea but the way kawhi left is saying something about the Spurs organization which is why this forum belongs. Danny Green also said that he played with a groin tear that the Spurs staff didn't detect. Kawhi looked rusty too (shots were flat). If he was truly healthy like everyone said than why is he so slow to get into game shape? The guy is supposed to be a gym rat and people were saying he was healthy since last year it doesn't add up.
He chose to play through it. Probably because he wanted to prove something.

Well I kinda do support moving this thread to the general nba forum bc really this could go on forever like the Jimmer thread, long after the guy left the team it kept on going and going, and it just became annoying.

It's really out of topic for the Spurs forum now that the season started and is more of a curiosity.

Don't click on the thread. Problem solved.

Kawhi loved playing on the Spurs, we just didn’t have cameras on him 24/7 to capture the occasional laugh or smile

Agree. Seems there's a chance he'll stay there. The Raptors will probably go and throw everything just to let him stay and then there's Drake. After all, what their camp wants is money unless Clippers will be desperate to land him.
Lakers will probably lowballed him comparing to Raptors and Clippers' offer.

I think there is a chance he stays there based on two reasons
    1. I think to some extent he (or his group/entourage/Uncle) has boxed themselves in a corner. As Venetian navigator has said above the Spurs have an excellent reputation for managing injuries taking care of players etc and so I suspect teams are a little wary of signing him long term.

    2. Market size. I think he (or his group/entourage/Uncle) may realize he is now in a big market

Kawhi is fine don't be stupid. He's just rusty. Also Danny is an ass kisser media who is desperate for a media job once his career is over. He's going the Jax route to get that career which is throw the Spurs underneath the bus since the media hates the Spurs. One thing that has already been addressed about Danny's injury is that the Spurs told him not to play when he was experiencing pain and to get another medical opinion. Danny admitted to this and decided to play anyways.
YGWHI is probably the forum's biggest Kawhi ball washer, and he said he looks done after the first TOR game. If there is something permanently wrong, then his group is doubly stupid. No one will pay him big next summer. He'll be sorting through MLE offers, at best.

The Spurs would have paid him for another contract, and put him back into a role like 2014, where he wasn't the focus and expected to carry the team. They take care of their own, financially, on the back end. They always have.

Toronto is a little bit of an estimate- However the metro area is 6+ Million and if you use the extended "golden Horseshoe" you are close to 10 Million.

Very sad with that list. Once the Spurs became a consistent non-playoff or lottery team, I can see them moving to another city or franchise.

    This.

We didn’t have to promote him “looking to be happy”.

None of this matters until the Raptors have success..

Man this had me losing it anime villains doing the Kawhi laugh. And I actually find the laugh kind of comically endearing. Not sure how to properly embed a FB link.

Market size is overrated. Show me all those Lowry and DeRozen endorsements, not to mention all those failed playoff appearances and then compare it to players like Durant and Westbrook from when they both played for the small market Thunder. The player can play for whomever he wants and still make tons of money in endorsements. He just has to be marketable and Leonard is just the opposite, a recluse with a controlling uncle that has already costed him Millions of dollars.

He's not staying in Toronto after this season even if LA burned to the ground. A couple of fake, choreographed smiles in front of a camera isn't going to change that.

Kawhi to me just looks rusty. I really hope he is washed up but we'll see. Guys really don't go hard in the preseason but we'll know in the first 10-20 games if he's washed up.

Kawhis usage is High. They need Lowry to become more of a decisive scorer.

At this rate, lowry is barely going to crack 15ppg and they probavly need him to average 18-21ppg to have a chance against the celtics.

Kawhi is playing like a superstar.

    Must suck for spursfans.

At least It does seem like getting rid of Danny Green was Ok.

He looks done. Maybe his job at this point is to make kawhi comfortable.
