I think it's more the fact that Rising came in with UT having no clear-cut QB option, and now Ehlinger is getting Heisman talk with two years of eligibility remaining.

Overshown is a huge reason I'm feeling optimistic about both our linebacker and safety spots. He is perfect for the 3-3-5 defense. He would be a linebacker who can cover backs and TEs. And he can hit like a truck. If he transfers I'll be pissed.
Dont buy it. You may have some insight but I’m not biting on this. He played a good bit on special teams knowing he had much more experienced players ahead of him. Doubt he leaves now that the LB room is wide open for the taking.

Now expectations... I had Caden Sterns like expectations. I felt he could have a huge impact on defense. So it’s disappointing to hear anything like the above.
He definitely could’ve had that type of impact if he hadn’t injured his knee in preseason camp.
That’s why I was counting on this next season. A big boost from him on D.

It obviously doesn't look good on Rising remaining at UT, but important to know that a player can withdraw his name from the NCAA's transfer portal and remain with his current team.
Nothing groundbreaking on ATH Bru McCoy, but 24/7 is still hearing he hasn't signed with anyone.
He spoke with Coach Mehringer very recently and wouldn't be able to do so unless he remained unsigned, or he signed with Texas.

Per Inside Texas, QB Casey Thompson is also in the NCAA transfer portal.
Both he and Rising have been at Sugar Bowl practices and the staff is going to try to keep both.
Rising's father told them he is still considering staying in Austin, and the transfer portal is a good way for these players to test the transfer waters and see if they'll have better options.
Really hope Overshone stays.He should have a bright future.
