I think other than Javier Zanetti the defense needs to be completely changed, Heinze should ing retire, he's horrible...

Midfield I never understood why Gago didn't start, with Mascherano and him you have probably the best defensive midfielders there.

Last offense its there but you need a big guy like Batistuta, thats what Argentina really needs, theres two promising players that I think could be good for Argentina if they develop and that is Milton Caraglio and Cristian Fabbiani.

He is to blame, no doubt... when you lose 3-1 to a team that basically has done nothing offensively there is something really wrong and the fact that Maradona has done nothing to correct it its not encouraging.

blah, blah, blah is all you've been doing with Maradona's nuts in your mouth.

We get it, you wouldn't blame Maradona even if he had run onto the field and scored against us. You're no different than most here.

Every loss we've had since this jackass took over has been chalked up to players not giving enough effort, not having enough heart... It couldn't possible be Maradona's fault.

Maradona doesn't know what the he's doing, period. Of course, no amount of losses is going to convince his nuthuggers of that.

Is Argentina in danger of falling out of the top 4? How many points are they ahead of #5?

that's facts, i don't see what's the problem here. Maradonna was a great player, is not a good example as a person and is a terrible coach.

Of course he's criticized, did you see the level of play of the Argie team? Only Domenech is a worst NT coach.

Yes, fortunately Ecuador lost yesterday too, so we conserve the 4th spot. But now we have to go to Paraguay, one of the worst possible matches.

I only saw the first half of the match 'cause I had a party to go and the score didn't encourage me to stay in my house and watch the rest of the game. But from what I saw Argentina played decent, Brazil had just two oportunities and they capitalized, what you're going to do?

The changes I'd make would be:

-Put Carrizo as the goalkeeper, he's by far our best one. He's now playing as a starter in Zaragoza so there's no excuse.

-Heinze needs to go, the guy sucks plain and simple.

-We need to play with a true center-forward, we can't play with two 5 foot nothing guys up there.

-And Maradona get your ing head out of your ass and give Higuain a call. He's the second best offensive player we've got.

    My team would be:

    Carrizo

    Zanetti Demic is Otamendi

    Rodriguez Veron Mascherano Datolo

    Messi Lopez Higuain

He will play for France anyway, we were not sure but with Maradona now it's almost done...
didn't Higuain already play a game for the Argentine NT? (as far as I know he did) if yes, he can't play for France any more.

just one question to the Argentinians:
I watched a summery of the game and was shocked to see Veron at team Argentina. didn't even know that he is still playing. some years back I thought he was one of the most overrated players in Europe (considering he was transfered for almost 60 million transfer fee to ManU). I really thought he was done, when he left Europe. did he rejuvenate in Argentina and is he good enough for the NT? (especially thinking about the world cup next year and the fact that he will be 35)

Yes he did but is wasn't an official one so technically he can choose France if he wants to.

He was our best player against Brazil. And yes he is playing good enough to play in the NT.

That's where Manu completely outclasses Maradona... as good a player as he is... Manu is a far greater person... a real man of the people...

LOL. Yes, I´m a nuthugger. And you are a hater. Just like everybody else here.
It´s either love him or hate him with Maradona. There´s no point in discussing it.

He is playing really well here.
I think he is playing for something else now.
He used to play for the money. Now he plays for the glory ( he made enough money in Europe), and for the club he loves.
Estudiantes won the Libertadores Cup (the most important tournament of the continent ), with Veron as the leader and best player of the team.

I agree with you about the center-forward. I said it before.
But we don´t have any decent one except for maybe Cavenaghi.

Dinosaurs like Fuertes or Palermo are the best we currently have.

some more (a bit clueless) questions:
is Cambiasso no longer in the picture? (not mentioned in the whole thread)
Diego Milito? (the guy can score and gives quite a few assits either)
    Lucho González?

Cambiasso is not out of the picture, but Mascherano and Gago are in front of him as central midfielders. And we also have Bolatti (you probably don´t know him, but he was one of the best players in the last arg tournament).

Diego Milito played a few minutes against Brazil, but he plays better in Europe than he does with the NT. Slightly above average forward, imo.

Lucho has had his chances, but never made a difference. He is a good player, though. I don´t know why Maradona has not called him. Maxi Rodriguez and Veron are ahead of him in the current roster.
