I did actively play Mortal Kombat. It was a favorite of mine when I was younger.
I'm just telling it like I see it without the nostalgia goggles on.
WOW....That MK trailer was pretty bad ass!![]()

Exclusive Interview with MORTAL KOMBAT: REBIRTH Director Kevin Tancharoen; Learn How Short Film Came Together and What He Wants to do in a Feature!
I love his comments about the matrix movies and the "too many character" issues with Spiderman 3 and Transformers 2(only 1 of many problems with that movie)
Way to contradict yourself, but theres more
Just so I can own you further, which fighting games besides SFII as of 1992 made Mortal Kombat "sooo beyind the curve" in your "non young", "I played this game alot even at arcades" opinion?
Like I said. Any game from 1992 compared to the new crop two years later is outdated and gimmicky not only by opinion but by definition. And saying it's gimmicky now in the year 2010? You sound like you read a book on video games or something. Way to wow us with that one professor.
Even if you want to move further to 1994 MKII which was just as gimmicky I will agree. With these characters you could "juggle" your opponents with players like Scorpion, Reptile, and of course Katana. Everyone did this. It became what the game was. The gimmick was the game. So what did the next crop of fighting games have? Combos. Wow, what a coincidence. The gimmicks became part of the game.
This has nothing to do with nostalgia, just you not knowing at all what you're talking about.

Well...since you sticks won't get off the damn GAME aspect of this post...Warner Bros. has just announced they will be releasing a new version of Mortal Kombat...simply called...Mortal Kombat in 2011...
Read and watch.
rofl
Sorry, I just can't stand flagrant ignorance over stuff like this.
I'm gonna see this movie on netflix for sure. No way I blow 9 bucks on this at the theatre. If they follow the formula of the original MK they will be in good shape...but it wont happen. Soundtrack should be a major focus. They need to get that hot latina that played Katana in the original MK.
Is that move Sub-Zero does at :43 new? Kewl, imho.
FYI, no word still if this is tied in to the live action trailer at all....

The videogame that introduced Fatalities to the gaming masses is going back to its gory roots. Warner Bros. Interactive announced today a rebooted Mortal Kombat is in development by NetherRealm Studios.
Warners promises a "triumphant return" to the franchise's mature gameplay. To prove that point, the publisher said Fatalities are back and in more gory detail than ever before.
"We are bringing the Mortal Kombat franchise back to gamers with the talented NetherRealm Studios team creating the game fans long to play," said Martin Tremblay, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Re-establishing the brand with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat innovates on past games while staying true to the brand's legendary characters and fighting style."
An all new graphics engine is being used to reinvent the classic 2D fighting mechanic, and franchise creator Ed Boon is on board as creative director.
"We can't wait for players to get their hands on Mortal Kombat," Boon said. "This game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever."
The game will also feature a new four-player tag team mode, online multiplayer, and a roster of fighters that includes Mortal Combat's iconic characters.
The game is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is set to launch next year.
That would be bad ass!
I remember when they introduced side stepping into the MK series and it was like "HOLY , the new technology age is upon us!"
Game looks interesting....@ Rayden throwing his hat in the grown and using it and dragging subzero into it...
If yall listen to this you'll know his goal is to make a movie, not anything related to a video game. Sounds like it's going to happen too
Thats not Raiden.... Its Kung Lao. He showed up in MK2. The guy in the very first part of the video is Raiden though.
Kung Lao was my boy back in the day...I could whoop anybody's ass with that guy...then they introduced Kabal...and sadly...Kung Lao was replaced...![]()
Black Dynamite is brilliant. I'm not overstating either. It's ing brilliant. The perfect spoof movie.
Chocolate Giddy Up!!!!
yah kung lao was my fave too.
That looks so lame...
graphics oddly remind me of WoW...
The hat and electricity though...![]()
So...finally was able to "find" the Tekken movie online...wasn't too bad...better than most video game movies...they did a decent job with most of the characters...Jin...Heihachi...the chick assassins...Raven looked spot on...Brian Fury looked spot on...they changed up Kazuya a bit...but it still worked...still felt like a B movie...
Just finished watching. Yeah it was ok. I liked MK better though.
It was cool to see some of the characters and what their take was...too bad this didn't have a big budget...seemed like it had potential...I can only cross my fingers for the MK rebirth to me made...
