I most definitely understand football (I had a better betting record and dropped more truth bombs than nearly any poster over the past two years in there). I never said there werent strategies. I said the strategies employed are from the stone ages and lack creativity.
I disagree that they aren't employed. You should read up on the One-back clinic and what coaches like Holgorsen and Sumlin are doing. The offense run by Bob S t is most certainly not from the "stone ages."

If you want to look at the NFL, then the Patriots are a good example of a team not using strategies from the stone ages. The 2 TE spread (sometimes hurry-up) is not exactly common or old school.

Defenses are also changing to keep up with the increase in passing. That's a different discussion though.

"People like soccer 'cause is cheap" is one of the most re ed established arguments ever.

first, if you really want to play a sport you can do it. I know kids that play baseball with sticks and tennis balls, not far ago I saw a TV program showing how a group of poor people (and when I say poor I mean "one meal per day if you're lucky" poor) got toghether and made a golf field and sticks to play the sport. To play American football you need the same thing you need to play soccer, tbh: a football.

Second, you don't need to play a sport to like it. I've never played American football in my life and I like the NFL.

never said you "need" to play a sport in order to like it. I said it's a big factor in whether you become a fan of the sport. and it is. 2nd factor is to adopt a team and follow it.

I tried my best to like football, even tried to adopt the redskins and cowboys. Watched a few games and participated in multiple of those strange ceremonies they call superbowl parties, where ppl stuff their faces with nachos beer and beef chili. Even went to a few suite parties in the NFL stadiums.(pretty good food, even better women, but most ppl there don't even watch the game ) Nothing worked. It's just not for me and that is ok. It's also ok that soccer is not for 2/3rds of america. It's actually better that way.

    DPG dropping duds Avante style

Stone age offense was three yards and a cloud of dust. Today, passing/total offense records continue to be shattered in wide open offenses.

A 3-2 score in soccer is a wild shootout the same today as it was in the Stone Age.

In the "stone age" of soccer a normal result was something like 5-2, 5-3.

same here. I like it that way, get my soccer fix every four years and could care less what happens in between.

Soccer is not really a sport that is easy to commercialize, and typical fat american needs multiple bathroom/kitchen breaks in between the action

WC even with it's bumps in the road is still the best sports compe ion in the world and it's not even close, no not even olympics come close

yes, but in the 50s and 60s the games might have been more entertaining with scores of 6-4 and 4-3

but that goes back to me saying its more entertaining that not as many goals are scored.. if we expect 10 goals a game that takes the rarity of goals away thus taking away one of the best parts of the sport, than thats a whole different thing. I do love watching soccer games because its so exciting when a goal almost or goes in.Coaches are not up players asses every 3 seconds telling them what to do, i love that its a free flow type of sport. there is no comparison between soccer and football baseball, soccer trumps that .

tbh if the corporations were to get together and create a new sport, an ideal sport for selling merchandise, food, drinks and with enough interruptions to take even the last cent from the stupid fat ignorant masses and make sure they are well fed and ted in order to continue watching the commerials till the last second, that sport would pretty much look like today's American Football

well ideally the corporations would eventually replace the black uniformed humans making millions with robots and then that'd be their ideal sport.

yes, ideally 3 times a week double headers. and don't forget the robots. not quite there but close

and what about the black folk that used to wear the uniforms you say? well, they can still wear the uniforms and somebody gotta maintain the robots

    So it's getting worse.
    LOL ...goods.

But I enjoy football, american football and basketball.
They all employ strategy and have a beauty to them in their own ways ...
I will say this I apprreciate soccer more now than I did as a kid because I did think it was boring even though the country where my family is from (belize) they love the sport. Being born in the US I thought it slow ...

Now I coach and ref games in Frisco and Plano and enjoy the game at the youth level far more than when I coached and reffed basketball. The skill hand and mostly foot eye co-ordination it takes is remarkable.
