For the record, I like the Spurs over the Thunder with Westbrook. The truly important loss was Harden. Btw, injuries happen every year to many teams. When the Spurs have a hurt player, do you think anyone gives a ??? Of course not.

bullets. I go to the Verizon center to catch games when intriguing teams are in town, and they don't even have any fans. More people of the opposing team attend the game than bullet fans, nobody gives a about meaningless franchise except OP. bullets

Spot on. OKC effed up when they declined to pay Harden. No way they beat us last year without him, he freakin' killed us with his epic flopping and by getting hot on low percentage forced long 3s. That whole rule about flopping penalties or fines was due to him, but too late for us!

Also we all know the Spurs have been QUITE plagued by injuries, often of the nagging sort where the player comes back but can't play at full efficiency for an extended period. Prime example was people thinking Duncan was washed up 3-4 years ago due to various lingering leg/foot injuries. Manu of course is the poster child, and exactly right nobody could give a damn!

The Spurs took advantage of a weak West, an injured Russell Westbrook, and lucky draws (7-6-5 seeds), to be the worst team to emerge from the West since the 1981 Rockets.

2012 -- Thunder: good team, 3 elite players, beat Lakers and overhyped Spurs team
2011 -- Mavericks: won championship over elite Miami team
    2010 -- Lakers: champs, self-explanatory
    2009 -- Lakers: see 2010
2008 -- Lakers: great team, lost to greater Boston team
2007 -- Spurs: benefited from #1 seed Dallas losing and questionable suspensions against Phx, but overall decent
2006 -- Mavs: should have won championship but refs intervened
2005 -- Spurs: beat champion Pistons
    2004 -- Lakers: 4 Hall-of-Famers
2003 -- Spurs: backed into Finals because of depleted Lakers, injuries to C-Webb, Dirk, but they were a 1 seed
    2002 -- Lakers: greatness
    2001 -- Lakers: super-greatness
    2000 -- Lakers: greatness
1999 -- Spurs: benefited from 50-game season, but had Twin Towers
    1998 -- Jazz: peak of Stockton-Malone era
    1997 -- Jazz: see 1998
1996 -- Sonics: 64-18 team would have won most years, but ran into 72-10 Bulls
    1995 -- Rockets: beat 3, 2, and 1 seeds in order
1994 -- Rockets: won championships, Hakeem was best center of his era
1993 -- Suns: Barkley-led team gave Bulls all they wanted
    1992 -- Blazers: ultra-loaded team
    1991 -- Lakers: greatness
    1990 -- Blazers: see 1992
1989 -- Lakers: greatness despite injury
    1988, 87 -- Lakers: greatness
1986 -- Rockets: upset great Lakers team, had original and best Twin Towers
    1985, 84, 83, 82 -- Lakers: greatness
1981 -- Rockets: 40-42. I agree this team was worse than the 2013 Spurs.

So the 2013 Spurs are a testament to how far the West has fallen and how lacking it is in depth behind Oklahoma City. The only way Miami doesn't sweep 4-0 is if the Heat get bored.
Hard to tell if he's a laker fan a mav fan a spur hater or just a ing got!

I notice nobody has been able to argue that any of the past 30+ Western champions are worse than the 2013 Spurs. All I've heard is that the East is weak too, that Serge Ibaka once hit a bunch of jump shots, and that the Wizards suck.

So it is firmly established that the 2013 Spurs are the worst team to win the Western Conference in 30+ years.
Both maverick teams were worse in '11 they got lucky shooting and played a laker team that was done. in '06 the refs raped the spurs. Last year thunder as we saw in the finals were a fluke. Hitting low percentage well defended shots against the Spurs. 08-10 the Spurs, Duncan in particular were not healthy. '04 derek fisher buzzer beater were they started the clock late. 2000 Duncan was hurt so they could not defend their championship. Shall I continue?
