That's a very well thought out response. Tough choice between education and a home, but from an administrative standpoint, the education would win hands down. Plus, there's a tax burden that goes with land and a house..that's the gift that keeps on giving.
That being said, I would support the education initiative with the caveat that the degrees are applicable. No theater arts degrees (I'm looking at my daughter here.)...something that is actually marketable or usable. It's really a win/win when you factor in meaningful employment = less social $ outlay.

I would also support this policy for any student, but if we had to single out a population to start with, I'm in.
well i already have my degree but i would love to upgrade to a better house lol. i agree with you and DOK that education should be free period.

A well educated workforce leads to a diverse and strong economy. It diminishes the rich poor gap and supports the middle class. It is a societal good.

When you make it a privilege instead, it becomes something that exacerbates the rich-poor gap and shrinks the middle class.

One thing that makes me laugh about so called 'conservatives' is that so many are making less than 6 figures. Acting like the GOP is going to look out for the common man is ignorant. It reminds me of the relationship between the southern 'gentry' and the rest of whitey in the slavery era. They even use the same fears for the social control.

You're an inarticulate ideologist. I can demonstrate this by once again pointing out your inability to articulate a supporting argument once again and the flippant comment about a Cadillac.

The relationship between socioeconomics and education is well established empirically. If you don't believe me then I will be more than happy to link a mul ude of scholarly works that outline how this is so. , they teach it in every economics class that has ever been.

Take note of the above. That is how to articulate what you mean and why you mean it. I would be more than happy to walk you through some exercises that would help you with this skill. You clearly lack it.

I'm no longer a member of the GOP, but there are two values I share with most GOPers.

    1. Self-Reliance
    2. Anything is possible at ude if you work hard enough

Do you really think that anyone buys this?

I can only suppose that you are either trying to get a rise out of me or trying to make yourself feel better.

If you are trying to make anything resembling a compelling argument you have a long way to go. All you are doing is again showing that you are inarticulate. Bravo.

when chinese are being hung, shot, and are the butt of 90% of racism in America then holla at ya boy. i just want to go to Cal Berkeley for undergrad, is that too much to ask for?
this happened as recently as the 1930's out in Tyler, Tx. a black guy raped a white woman and the town stormed the courthouse, beat him to death cut off his wang and burned him alive, then drug his body through the streets and hung it in the middle of town and lit a fire underneath it. we're going to go back to these times if these coons actually try to riot or attack whites after zimmerman gets declared innocent tbh.

That's not a value, it's a naive bull belief people use to either give themselves hope for a hopeless future or make themselves feel less guilty about being born on 3rd base so they can convince themselves they personally hit a triple.

The fact you associate a free education with a free Cadillac demonstrates a gross lack of education.

    Empirical.

I do not speak in gross generalities like 'anything is possible' instead I look to specifics ie 'is X possible given situation Y.'

I do not consider ideology such as 'self-reliance.' Very few people have ever existed that have not relied on someone else to cope. Instead, I look at it as 'can I do X by myself or do I need help?'

I can't think of a single person, although I do think of myself as pretty damn self reliant. Who are these people you speak of?
