OP, game was basically tied and we had the ball when LeBron went out. We were also hitting EVERYTHING. LeBron wasn't going to make that big a difference.

Let's not forget we lost Parker for more time in game 6 against the Thunder and we won anyway. There's no excuse.

But yes, we turned it over a ton. It would've been a blowout if we had average turnovers. Truth be told, Miami had no business being that close to us. We dominated that game up and down except for turnovers.

The Spurs committed 22 turnovers and got only 11 points from Kawhi and Boris, Miami got almost 80 points from Wade, Bosh, Lebron, and Allen, and the Spurs won by 15. We can all sit here and talk about the Spurs had no business winning the game - but the Heat were never able to execute well enough to go up by more than 7 during that meltdown by SA. Missed shots and fouls by the Heat allowed the Spurs to stick around, and then the 4th happened.

Bottom line is, championship teams find ways to win games that they have no business winning. The Spurs had no business winning Game 6 of the 2003 Finals, and they found a way to come back. They suffered demoralizing blows in Games 3 and 4 in Detroit in 05, and found a way to win Games 5 and 7. They couldn't shake OKC in Game 6, and they found a way to get their first W in 10 tries at Chesapeake to win the West. Sometimes, the team will suck miserably. However, one of the defining characteristics of this Spurs team is that you never know where the X Factor will come from. One game ago, it was Diaw with 26 points. Tonight, he only had 2 and the Spurs won by 15. Champions figure out how to win when their most trusted resources and game plans fail.

The Spurs didn't have the lead tonight, but the latter states the Spurs can close out games and are the best in the NBA at it this year. Miami's defense has always ben better than lots of folks in here want to believe. THey have been in our passing lanes so often in so many games you just have to expect us to turn the ball over. That IS their defensive game plan against us.

I always predicted that these games would look ugly, and I am confident that last night's game is not the last of the ugly games we will see from the Spurs.

Regardless of ugly or pretty, regardless of who is on the court or not, I'll take any kind of win I can get.

The heat effected everybody, and it was noticeable in how sluggish most players on both sides of the court looked in the 4th quarter. Stupid, stupid, unforced turnovers from us almost did us in, but earlier in the game, it was the Miami defense getting in our passing lanes that was keeping us in check.

Miami played pretty damn good all things considered and their defense was on another level from what the Spurs have seen. However, they aren't OKC and their offense outside of some stretches doesn't terrify you like an OKC offense. Spurs offense is just so damn good, that when they play teams, even with great defense like MIA, they can usually hang around enough to at least have a shot at winning.

The only times that isn't really true is when SA has a lot of TO's, shoots poorly and the other team shoots well. Spurs had a ton of TO's, but still shot well. Basically, since the Spurs offense is the best in the league, they create so many good shots. Unless the other team gets significantly more shots than SA, it's very difficult to beat that offense.

This. Even though the Heat aren't quite as athletic as the Thunder they are so damn aggressive and it forced us into making bad passes. Wade,Allen,and Lebron are great at baiting you into a pass and stealing it. Allen got ALOT of open looks that he will normally make. This series is going to be great.

The Heat ed up by forcing what, 9 or 10 turnovers in the 3rd and still being up a handful of points. They should have buried the Spurs in the 3rd.

I'll give the Heat a tad bit of credit for forcing a few of those turnovers, but for the most part we started doing that crappy jump-pass stuff where our passes are telegraphed so every Heat player knows exactly where the ball is going. We acted like the ball was on fire or something and no one wanted to hold onto it any longer than 2 seconds or something.

You cannot both have ball movement and have it stopped. The ball needs to move. They often make 5 or 6 passes in just as many seconds. There was no rotations early so guys were trapped easily and people were forced into turnovers. Leonard was trapped every time he touched the ball and Boris just left him hanging. They couldn't get into sets because Tony was walking the ball up the floor for the most part. It's amazing to me that the PG will still run off and leave the out of bounds guy back court with no one to throw to (Heat did it as well).

Exactly. Compare the score last night to any of the Miami games thus far in the playoffs.

Tiago and Tim had lots of easy shots because Miami is a perimeter based defense. We will have more turnovers but easier shots as well. We had 30 assists as well. We are not going to have 23 again hopefully but we will have to play very, very well to avoid double digits. Or just shoot a bunch of crappy one on one shots.
