Trade him for what? Just to get rid of him and then start who??? 33 on his downside nobody will give anything of value for him at this point in his career.
So? What are you expecting? If you want to build something you have to start with good materials, not "well we love this old wood even though it won't support the rest of the structure, so let's use it" type .

    loyalty stuff

Spurs FO is loyal in a sense of taking care of their players and negotiating ahead but except for Duncan nobody is untradable for the right price.

Now I don't think it is 1. clever to trade a player at his lowest perceived value and 2. Parker has a significant contract to swallow for a taker... at the end there is no market for him atm for the perceived "right price" in Pop's mind.

So go tell the front office to trade him then since it will net a positive in return by our logic. They won't get jack for him at this point in all reality after last season and being 33 now. Who do they start if they trade him? Joseph? You know the FO is loyal and he will retire a Spur so all this trade him talk on here is irrelevant in reality, like it or not he is probably a Spur for life.

Any Parker trade would require getting a point guard in return. If not, there would be a huge gap in our line up. And we would have to trade for a PG better than Parker, which would be tough to do. Basically, he's not going to be traded this offseason.

no, it wouldn't be tough to do, at all, realistically..

I'm assuming this is just trolling. Hopefully, you don't think that the Spurs are a better team with Patty Mills or Cojo playing 30 minutes a game as our starting point guard. If you do, then you don't know what you are talking about. Patty Mills isn't a point guard, and probably wouldn't be in the lineup, but for being able to play with Manu. With Manu out, Mills is just an undersized shooting guard. Cojo had a starting gig for the Spurs when Parker was injured. It happened to be the worst stretch of the season for the Spurs, and the main reason they were such a low seed. And the free agent market offers no improvements. Parker is way better than those options. So what point guard are you going to trade for? You aren't getting a top 10 point guard in a trade. So basically, you are stuck with Parker whether you like it or not. Just be thankful he didn't demand what the market would have paid him on his last extension. Dude has taken pay cuts on every contract to stay with the Spurs.

Has nothing to do with the Spurs having the "guts". The Spurs CAN'T trade him. How many teams are willing to pay $14 mil/year for a point guard that gives you worse production than Rondo? Like others have said, the FO's re ed decision to hand Tony that monstrous contract has handicapped this team's ability to contend for the foreseeable future. Just to land a player like Aldridge they'll need to move valuable assets.

If they were paying Parker what he was actually worth(less than 8 mil), they would have a ton more flexibility this off-season. , if they never gave Parker that extension they could have gotten him to come back cheap after the trainwreck of a season he just had. That $45 mil deal looked bad even last summer(with more than a few posters on ST complaining about it). Now it looks like it's going to kill the Tim Duncan era for good.

parker could have been playing at a higher level then what he is getting paid
last year barkley said he was the top point guard in the nba

and bringing up st posters here with all the tp trolling here means nothing
you always disliked tp from day one

if spurs were paying tp 8 million they would have given more to manu and Duncan and they would be still not have more cap space

He is not tradeable at this point. If he performs poorly again next year and can't move Pop will use him accordingly. Problem is he had a stretch during our seed run during the regular season where he showed signs of old Tony. Guaranteed both Pop and Tony have discussed this. Problem Pop had right now there is no one on the team that can fill this fast Tony role for any length of time.

We are not going deep into the playoffs with Patty or CoJo playing 30 min. at point. Dream on. We don't have a big minute point. Those are the facts right now. Wake up.

Also get this through your skulls.

We don't get 5 with Tony out. No way, now how. That contract got us 5. But it now rears its old head. So try and make it easy by denial of the good and bad of all longer contracts. You guys act like this is some Allan Houston deal.

Maybe we can grab a quality PG like Chris Paul and never make it back to the Western Conference Finals ever again.
You're absurd. If we had Chris Paul we'd have repeated. Chris Paul in our system would be an MVP candidate...

Lol, yah I'm sure that he would have won the championship even though he couldn't get to the WCF with Griffin putting up 26 PPG, 13 RPG, 6 APG on 51% shooting. Hahahahaha! When's the last time Parker had someone on his team play that good in the postseason? (besides himself)

I'll answer the question: Duncan in 2003, who put up 26 PPG, 15 RPG, 5 APG on 53% shooting.
So you're saying Griffin is better than post 2003 Duncan.
